Money Looking Good For Paul Camp

So what's he do with all this campaign money when he doesn't get the nomination, which looks almost certain? Does he get to keep it?

the money is restricted to his presidential campaign. he can't use it for anything else. he is currently running for his seat in the texas 14th district, and the money can not be used for that.

his message of "out of iraq now" resonates with the people actually fighting
... as it resonates with those who've fought America's imperial wars of the past (lots of contributions from America's retired veterans - including mine. I've maxed out).

I'm in the middle of changing residences - but if this "March to DC" thing happens anytime after 3rd-4th week of March --- you can be sure I'll be there!

cheers,

Does Ron Paul have to fight for his Congress seat? Gee, here I thought he was loved by his district:rolleyes:

He will be keeping his money and he'll simply do some "creative" account deposits/withdrawals...he may have to sit on that warchest he has but, believe me, if "***** wants his yacht...***** will get his yacht"

Every politician has to "fight" for his seat.

It's called "re-election".

Part and parcel of a beautiful system that defines our constitutional republic.

Keep dreaming ***.

You're talking about a congressman who returns a portion of his congressional budget back to the treasury every year that he's been in office.

The U.S. House of Representatives reports that Congressman Ron Paul has once again run his Congressional office in a frugal manner, and he will likely return tens of thousands of dollars to the Treasury once again this year. Preliminary estimates forwarded to Paul’s office indicate he has about $75,000 left in his account.

“Since my first year in Congress representing the 14th district I have managed my office in a frugal manner, instructing staff to provide the greatest possible service to the people of the 14th district at the least possible cost to taxpayers,” said Paul.

Yeah. He's out to score "money". Yep. That's what he's all about.

Care to show me any other congressman who does the same? Or how about anyone else in public office who has been voted "Tax Payers (that means you and I ***) Best Friend" the most times when in office?

Among countless other examples...

I can understand your aversion to libertarianism and your elitist dismissal of the ideals Dr. Paul (and the founding fathers of this August Republic) stands for - but sometimes man, you really out do yourself in the clueless department.

cheers,

Roughneck...have you heard of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Don Young, Duncan Hunter et all? These people are multi-term Congressmen/women and are insider incumbents who rarely face a "tough re-election."

Since Ron Paul has been in and out and lately very IN politics...I figured he was just another rubber-stamped incumbent. Apparently, people in his own district aren't that fond of him anymore?:dunno:

I tried to edit it but I didn't make the deadline:

I'd like to add -

* To those folks questioning Congressman Paul and his "money stash" - can anyone tell me HOW he managed to RAISE the money?
* Can anyone tell me what strategy on part of his committee helped raise the moolah?
* Can anyone tell me who were the primary organisers behind his "money bombs" - were they his "staffers" or ....?
* Can anyone prove beyond reasonable doubt that his campaign has been accorded equal or even equivalent "media attention" as opposed to the chosen 'front runners' of the Republican campaign - including some of the same 'front runners' who have consistently failed to raise the same amount of cash as Dr. Paul and have also under-performed in many primaries (and who have also since dropped out of the race)?

cheers,

What's even more fantastic is the fact that after his first stint in Congress - he walked away!

He walked away - to return to his practice of delivering babies!

How many "politicians" do you know that walk away, voluntarily from a cushy job to return to everyday life?

He only returned when he thought that the nation was poised on the Republican "Revolution" post Clinton and thought that there might be scope to pass real change in the establishment - and he's been critical of that same "revolution" since he returned to Congress for failing to live up to it's promises!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the man is a statesman. The likes of which I have not seen since Sen. Robert Taft!

cheers,

admit it titsrock, you're drawn to ron paul like a moth to a flame. now it's time to actually find out about his message. a challenge, if you will. i dare you to actually type his name into your favorite search engine and read something about him. you seem to be interested in him; if someone did a search of his name on this very board, your user name would come up in association. yet, you know almost nothing about him or his message. do it.

Negator...I do know enough about Ron Paul. I mostly enjoy goofing on him and his follower minions now.

I support EXACTLY 50% of Ron Paul's agenda. I support his desire to get us out of Iraq and instill a policy of "non-intervention," which I call "Peace." I support his belief that we need to revise the Constitution in order to "eliminate" the automatic granting of citizenship to babies born on U.S. soil. Only babies born from American Citizen parents should be granted American citizenship. I agree with him that the Patriot Act and the Dept of Homeland Security need to be eliminated.

He just doesn't believe in any domestic issues that I care about.

Hey got my vote... mainly because of his position on RKBA... that's the one I care about the most. Everything was either icing or meaningless pillow talk like every other politician spews. Social issues, foreign affairs, and all that other stuff generally works itself out in the end in favor of popular opinion and/or what's best for the majority. None of them really come up with an idea so macro that it could only come from one guy. All their hair brained ideas come from a whole committee of nitwits and twits...

RKBA = the right to keep and bear arms. we're going to need that.

Hmmm. We have military and National Guard. Check. We have an armed police *****. Check.

I think the people that need the guns, have the guns. Nobody "***** what they eat" on a daily basis anymore.

Do you understand what will happen to society if citizens begin carrying weapons on subways, in cars, to bars?
