Hopefully she ends up in the usual run of the mill nursing home for rehab therapy and find out what it's like for the elderly across America in Human Warehousing. But she won't, however at her age, she won't bounce back. Bring on another supreme court nom.

Regardless of your political stance, you have to respect someone doing their job at such an age, and it's sad to hear her getting injured while at work.
I would be impressed if the injuries are as serious at they are reporting and she still comes back.
You can imagine the frenzy if she does resign though, esp after the last SCOTUS appointment.

Nice article with some interesting scenarios. I don't see how the Senate would consider a nominee before the election .. and doing so after - if Trump loses - would be unprincipled. We all know Mitch would stand by his own principles regardless of the persons involved.

"The decision the Senate made weeks ago remains about a principle, not a person ...I believe the overwhelming view of the Republican Conference in the Senate is that this nomination should not be filled, this vacancy should not be filled by this lame duck president ... The Senate will appropriately revisit the matter when it considers the qualifications of the nominee the next president nominates, whoever that might be."

President Trump isn't a lame duck. If it was 2024 I would agree. But after his re-election it will be a moot point.
The Supreme Court shouldn't be a retirement home. There should be mandatory retirement ages for them and for Congress, I'd even go as far as to say the office of President should have a max age limit as well. If it's good enough for federal agents it should be good enough for our elected public servants.

Ace - I concur with your definition of lame duck and appreciate your usage of moot. To be clear, I said "if Trump loses". The article, if you read it, referenced Trump nominating someone between the election and the end the session. During that period, he would indeed be a lame duck and the issue would not be moot.
