"A quarter of New York City's apartment renters haven’t paid since March, according to the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP), a group that represents mostly landlords of rent-stabilized buildings."
"A state law protects victims of the pandemic from eviction. But there's nothing to save working-class New Yorkers from mounting debts to their landlords."

The next few years will be tough on the commercial property market and landlord/tenant relations. Watch out if your portfolio has any investments in commercial mortgage backed securities. I can see plenty of devaluation and bankruptcies forthcoming in the sector. Tenants are in a worse predicament. I can see plenty defaults and bankruptcies on the horizon.

The bankruptcy lawyers (both corporate and personal) must be drooling.

The best part is, all the small businesses who couldn't make it through the pandemic, or get started again on the other side, will go broke and shut down. Then when things start moving again all the gaps left by those businesses closing will create opportunities which will quickly be filled by a handful of dominant corporations and all those artisans and what not who used to run their own businesses will be doing that same work except getting paid 9 bucks an hour by walmart or amazon.

So it's all roses from here on out!

Roses spelled thorns.

As an aside I enjoyed how the Catholic Church mainly but also other religions managed to leverage a "special exemption" to get one hellova bunch of cash from the PPP program. And amazing coincidence it is that a good portion has gone to the Dioceses that had to pay out the largest amounts in the Priest ***** ********* suits. So as I said in another post, God does work in mysterious ways.( as long as you have honest politicians, you know the kind when you buy them, they stay bought)

James Blaine is rolling over in his grave.

We can't deal with the pandemic. We buy bigger houses and stock them with amenities, but complain when we're confined to them. We complain about traffic, but complain about working from home. I could go on, but back to the post-pandemic realities:

The populace has been fixated on Ivanka's urging unemployed Americans to 'find something new.' Well, if you're unemployed isn't that what you're trying to do in the first place? She is playing Captain Obvious there.

But ... Ivanka is joined in her efforts by Tim Cook and Ginni Rometty as described in the article:
But the effort — complete with a website, advertising campaign and virtual roundtable featuring Apple CEO Tim Cook and IBM chair Ginni Rometty — was swiftly derided on social media as “clueless” and “tone-deaf” given the pandemic, recession and Trump’s own familial employment history.

Consider how many US workers Ms. Rometty ****** to 'find something new' pre-pandemic? Her being on the panel is a bit disingenuous in my opinion.

This demonstrates how that woman is disconnected from average americans, she doesn't get that average american can find a new job that easily...

Yet Ginni gets a free pass?

Ivanka wants to spread the idea that jobs are just laying around for you to pick one up. if you don't like it after you do, just put it down and pick up another. See, no problems here. ***** has a great economy.

"Economic activity increased in almost all Districts... The unemployment rate fell to 11.1% in June as 4.8 million people returned to work."

But ignore the details, and go to pieces with wailing and accusatory ****-smearing, if that's your political persuasion.

Yeah, everything is fine, stop being negative Nancys.
It may take a few generations, but it will all work itself out.

DD, you should tweet Trump the link to this song, so he can play it at his next political rally in Florida, and every time he speaks, or instead of speaking.
