Youtube embedded videos slowing freeones?

To the mods, admins (and developers maybe)! :crash:

I must say that I love the fact Freeones now allows embedding of youtube videos directly into user posts. Petra kindly informed us around 4th Nov that we could now do this.

My concern is that the Freeones has starting to get significantly and at times painfully slow from this date as more and users start to use embedded youtube videos (I suspect). :crash::fight: I recently created a few posts with nothing but a youtube video embedded and have noticed that these pages can take significantly longer to load as a result (compared to just plain links or pics). Pages which contain many embedded videos, such as the "What are you listening to thread" can take a sizeable time now to load fully. If this is happening per page then imagine what is perhaps happening on the site as a whole, with multiple people and pages being accessed across the whole site. :dunno:

This is just my observation, I dont know if others notice this behaviour at all. Perhaps you might want to post your similar experiences here so the admins can look into the matter. :wave2:

I have been on other forums that allow embedding Youtube videos but could not tell that it had any impact at all on performance. I agree Free Ones has some issues that need to be sorted out but I don't think it is the Youtube videos.

We've installed 10 new 16 core 24 GB servers in our network the last 6 months. Unfortunately the all servers have faulty network cards, this is the major problem we have right now. We're replacing all cards somewhere this week. I hope everything will go faster then.

Is the youtube embedding causing an extra burden on the network in addition to this fault?

The first time I tried embedding a video, it didn't work. Then M12 came in and fixed it. Will the mods always have to rescue us with these so-called "embedded" videos? Can the world ever really be safe again?

what the fuck you lookin at?
Freeones has always been slow. The embedded videos make no difference.

The embedded video doesn't have any impact on us what so ever since it's not using our resources to run the video. Think of it like hosting an image on an image hosting site...same thing.

^ if you have a t1 or cable connection too many videos embedded on a single thread may not have much of a significant impact on your computer but it does affect the speed and time it takes to load for people who have dsl or a shitty computer

No.. Most of the problems we are facing right now arent related to the freeones software itself.
As my partner in crime (Boldy) sayed:

Last months we bought serval high end servers from a big worldwide vendor. Unfortunately it looks by now that all network interfaces of those servers are Monday morning hardware and giving us a hard time to keep them up.

Right now im ordering new network cards for all those servers to solve all those problems @ once (although replacing them all will result in some downtime of < 15 minutes for some services).

All the servers bought from this worldwide vendor had faulty network adapters? Do they in addition to the main network cards not come with secondary network adapters also as a backup?

They all have 4 onboard network cards. Who are supposed to be good but they arent...

Anyway I dont want to go to deep into this issue (otherwise this thread would become a very uninteresting one).

That's absolutely appalling technical service from a hardware vendor. One bad nic is understandable, but all of them! Appalling!

Yeah and they are brand new too. I would assume they are still under warranty. I would make them pay for their mistake and send me new network cards.
