Youth in Revolt

Anybody else seen this movie thinking it would be lame and thought it was funny as hell? OK, granted, hubby and I weren't exactly sober but we laughed our asses off. Seth is my Francoise Dillinger.

I saw it over the weekend with my girlfriend. Michael Cera and his quiet talking really isn't my thing, but I've gotta admit - I actually like the damn movie. There was evidence of some fantastic writing in the dialogue as well.

"And why aren't you wearing any pants?"
(pause, puts hand on friend's shoulder)
"Solidarity."

I love Fred Willard no matter what movie he's in. And he's in pretty much every movie I watch. What does that say about me?

I saw this about a week ago on my b-day. I thought it was really funny and the line I remember the most from it is this:
"I want to wrap your legs around my head and wear you like the crown that you are."

qft???

Anyhoo, this looks funny, I will most likely check it out when it comes out on DVD or the really, really cheap theatre.

qft = quoted for truth.

This movie is about as good as his other academy award winning films, Superbad and Juno. Don't waste your time.

I liked Juno though :shy:

I haven't seen Superbad

Haven't seen Superbad!!?
So you don't know the legend of McLovin.

Actually the movie wasn't very good, but it was funny especailly if jokes about dicks are your thing. The credits are a gay mans dream, so many dicks.

I actually enjoyed Superbad. It reminded me of high school, I wasn't trying to get laid as bad as them in the movie but had many similar experiences. It also is the way my friends and I used to swear a lot (which is weird because now I don't swear really anymore).

Anyways, still haven't seen Youth in Revolt. I kinda want to but will probably just wait for it on DVD. Michael Cera might have to be careful, he's definitely being typecasted in the same role a lot.

:(

It's terrible. Unless you're a sex obsessed 12 year old boy who loves dick jokes.

well aren't you just a big ole barrel of happiness! Too little testosterone for you? Not enough car chases, explosions and jiggly bits? Bet $10 you never saw the movie.
For those who aren't turned off by movies that aren't Die Hard, try it, you'll like it.

Great the wife and were debating on whether to see it. Thanks:thumbsup:

That is true. I've notice this as well. He is becoming the lonely, geeky kid turns I get the woman.

He is almost a modern day Adam Sandler. In that sense I mean he plays as a fumbling teen, awkward as can be, and is "himself" which makes him adorable on the screen and by the end of the movie he gets his dream girl and credits roll and lesson is learned somewhere along the line.

He should branch off and do something serious, return to comedies, then play a psychopathic killer in a film. Show he can act in different areas instead of the awkward teenage looking for sex/girlfriend.

You owe me $10. I saw it in theatres. Easily the worst "comedy" I've ever seen. It would have been funny had I seen it when I used to be a 13 year old girl, but those days are gone now. Besides, that movie is a huge rip off of American Pie, except instead of "Jocks", it's "Nerds". :crash:

Anybody remember when teen romance/comedies were good?

R.I.P John Hughes.

Cera has been the same character 3 movies in a row now. Literally the same character. He's officially stuck. The same thing that is making him a star right now will eventually be the reason he won't get work in the future. I hope his star begins to fade before casting for the new Spiderman. I'm sick of seeing his dumb, awkward, cute face.

John Hughes! Yup. Those were grand. James Spader in Pretty in Pink. Hells yeah! Breakfast Club.

Ferris Beuler's Day Off. Anything with John Cusack just about.

Now those were movies youths/teens, even adults, could cherish and enjoy. :hatsoff:
