No it wasn't a ripoff at all, it was a licensed Americanized version of the show. A lot of US hits were based on British hits, All in the Family, Friends, etc

I don't act like The Rock. I'm not shining things up and sticking them up people's asses, I'm not raising my left eyebrow, I'm not calling anyone a roody-poo Candy Ass, I'm not delivering the people's elbow, I'm not telling people that they don't matter, I'm not asking people to smell what I'm cooking, and I'm damn sure not giving anyone a Rock Bottom.

I am a jackass to people here, and I have been since day one. That doesn't make me The Rock. I chose this avatar (and it'll probably change within a week) because I grew up with the Attitude Era of wrestling. When I was in middle school and high school, the Monday Night Wars were at their peak. It was a great time to be a wrestling fan. I haven't watched it now in about six years or so. That doesn't mean I can't pay a little homage to The People's Champion. There is only one Great One.
