I am also a switch-it-up guy. My goatee looks best mid-short, so I'll let it grow til I don't like it anymore and then go cleanshaven a few days, stop and start the process again.
Except my moustache, which never appears to have jumped on the puberty train, so that is always bare. I'm just lucky I have good 5 o'clock shadow or else I'd look like a bum between the two extremes.
