Not one for posting controversial threads :1orglaugh but thought this article was rather interesting (rather surprising for Murdochs' Sun which normally concentrates on anti-Muslim articles). To the American members of the forum how common/relevant is this to the US today or is it just a British newspaper making a bit issue out of one isolated ****** to make a story?

I think in general the KKK has splintered enough that there is little centralized movement or coordination among them, save at kooky sites like Stormfront or the like. People who thirty years ago would have openly called themselves KKK members simply use language like "white separatists," "white nationalists," etc. Part of this is a conscious attempt to distance the movement today from the lynchings and other assorted ******** of the past. Ultimately the best way to deal with these people is expose them to sunlight, so to speak. After years of not permitting them to gather and march, my city finally did so -- the counter-protest was roughly twenty times in magnitude and entirely overshadowed the original march. It became clear that the event was such a dismal failure that they haven't tried anything public since that day.

To be honest I'm not at all certain the political presence of these groups is noticeably worse than, for example, the presence of the BNP in UK politics.

I was thinking the same thing, they must have a cut of point after the European settlers arrived but before slavery and Immigration. Someone should tell these people America was never supposed to be a Whites only Utopia.

Russia has large areas that are extremely underpopulated.

I am sure the russian government would really appreciate all of those people to patch up farms and so on and pay their taxes there.

I mean, if the Klan is really under 10.000 members, let's say another 10 K go along they will not be misssed, I would say.

Damn, it, BB beat me to the pop-culture punch.

Unfortunately, this mindset does exist - and does seem to have grown quite a bit since Obama became president. Quite a few in this area of Ohio, as well.
What is remarkable is how they continually go on about the ways of the black man - yet, as one in the article admitted, they live in a 98 percent white community. What they fail to recognize in their segregated little world is that people are people, no matter their race, religion, country of origin or whatnot. Fortunately, they are a dying breed which will probably inbreed themselves out of existence in a few decades.
Of course, this hatred is not only directed towards blacks. Hispanics have become the new blacks of recent years - this tragically includes people who have legally been in this country for generations, and even people who slightly resemble Hispanics (IE, American Indians).

It sounds to me like this ****** of heehaws want their 15 minutes and figure they can get it by being as outrageous as possible.

There have been racial incidents getting publicized in different parts of America for the past couple of years (I guess since Obama became president). There were those christian militia terrorists who tried to destroy the police station in Michigan a couple of months ago...how are they different from the Klan :dunno:

How common? Very very uncommon.
How relevant? Very very irrelevant.

If you live in the states, and youre honest with yourself, you will know that this poses no threat at all to anybody.

There are a lot more threatening, dangerous things in that country than some little white boy.

They aren't. The Klan just has a huge history that for better or worse I don't think a soul in the US or in Canada(well parts anyway) could say they had never heard of them. So even though they are a dying breed they still get heard.
