Xbox live/Xbox Gold

wasnt sure what to name this or where to put it (in a different thread) or start a fresh thread about it.
Just finished Portal2 and i was dicking around on Xbox live checking out the games,demos,indies and other nonsense basically just wasting time until i decide what game to move onto next.
I saw the Demo version of NCAA football 12 is available for download.....ONLY TO XBOX live GOLD members!!! What kinda shit is that? i dont have gold because (1.) i dont have the cash to pay for something i would never use (no friends have xbox to play vs) (2.) i dont play online VS ever.
i use Live for DLC and game demos and such stuff.
so why am i (a huge football and college football fan) basically stonewalled from trying out the demo for the new game?
i would love an explanation from microsoft regarding this nonsense!!!!

Don't worry , it's probably a temporary exclusive demo for xbox live gold users. I'm pretty sure it's going to be available for everyone soon enough.

Same thing happens sometimes on PSN. If you have PS plus you get discounts and some demos before regular PSN users.

but i would get it for just getting some demos and releases early? i dont play online VS anyone. its not worth it

PSN does the same thing. They release demos a week early for playstation plus subscribers. But its only exclusive for a week. Wait till next week and you should be able to download it.

It's all a fuckin scam anyway. To trick people who don't have a brain, or children using their parents money, into paying extra for some worthless shit. At least PSN doesn't charge you to play games online, which is nice. Microsoft is greedier than fuck, and they let you know every chance they get! Though I'm sure sony will catch up eventually.

The worst thing i've seen from sony is the games they put up for free for ps plus subscribers. When the welcome back program started ,I picked up the free 30 day subscription to ps plus thinking I would get a few free games in the process. But , to my surprise , games that you get for free through an offer from ps plus become unplayable once you stop your subscription to the service.
That's a lot of crap. At least on xbox live when you buy a game at a discount because of your xbox live gold status , you get to keep it even if you stop your subscription to xbox live gold.

I cant really comment on PSN as I have only ever subscribed to Xbox Live for online gaming. However going off recent events I would say that I am more than happy to part with the huge sum of £2 per month for a superb service from Microsoft which is a pleasure to be a member of and I get more than my money's worth out of it.

It's worthless to him, therefore to him it's worthless shit. I payed for a few years of that service before my 360 finally died. It's a great service, but if you don't play games then why pay the money? That was my point. Suppose I should have clarified.
