What a stupid argument to judge a console by the power of its hardware! Those who refuse to keep on suffering from the typical problems of PC-games and buy a console should concentrate on the real value of a game: the gameplay. I still use to play SNES-games (Super Famicom) because many of them are, concerning gameplay and longtime motivation, still up-to-date (for example Secret Of Mana, Final Fantasy IV-VI, Super Metroid)
I own a PlayStation2 and even now, having the alternative to buy an Xbox or a GameCube instead (or in addition), I would still buy the PlayStation2:
-killer applications like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals, Ratchet And Clank, Jak And Daxter, Tekken, Syphon Filter... are and will always be PlayStation-exclusive; Resident Evil will also go "back to its basics", to the PlayStation, when the contract with Nintendo runs out after Resident Evil 4.
-at least in Europe, the online service offered by Sony is much better and especially cheaper than "Xbox live": in fact it's absolutely free to play games like SOCOM whenever, and as long as, you want.
-besides I think that the traditional Sony-controller is still the best (especially compared to the Xbox-controller)
-by the way: I find it rather ridiculous that all these Microsoft-fanboys often refer to games that aren't even released yet in their argumentations: Halo II, Doom III, Half-life II and so on...
