X-BOX vs. PS2

What a stupid argument to judge a console by the power of its hardware! Those who refuse to keep on suffering from the typical problems of PC-games and buy a console should concentrate on the real value of a game: the gameplay. I still use to play SNES-games (Super Famicom) because many of them are, concerning gameplay and longtime motivation, still up-to-date (for example Secret Of Mana, Final Fantasy IV-VI, Super Metroid)
I own a PlayStation2 and even now, having the alternative to buy an Xbox or a GameCube instead (or in addition), I would still buy the PlayStation2:

-killer applications like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals, Ratchet And Clank, Jak And Daxter, Tekken, Syphon Filter... are and will always be PlayStation-exclusive; Resident Evil will also go "back to its basics", to the PlayStation, when the contract with Nintendo runs out after Resident Evil 4.
-at least in Europe, the online service offered by Sony is much better and especially cheaper than "Xbox live": in fact it's absolutely free to play games like SOCOM whenever, and as long as, you want.
-besides I think that the traditional Sony-controller is still the best (especially compared to the Xbox-controller)
-by the way: I find it rather ridiculous that all these Microsoft-fanboys often refer to games that aren't even released yet in their argumentations: Halo II, Doom III, Half-life II and so on...

...
What does the word stupid means?:hatsoff:

Theres always a possibility that better games will come out for Xbox but it wouldnt be possible for PS2 to get better graphics (unless they came out with a PS3!) so I'd rather go with better graphics over a better choice of games.

So why not just wait for those good games to appear before you buy it?

You know, I just made the connection. Why the majority of people on this board are on the XBox wagon. This is a porn site after all. And, let's face it, we likes our wimmens pretty. So, same argument should go for our games. So, what the hell does that make me then since I'm all about gameplay over graphics? I think I'm on the wrong site

I find it rather ridiculous that all these Bill Gates player haters often refer to PS2s gameplay. Theres nothing wrong Xboxs gameplay so thats not even an issue. Like I said before the real issue is it looks better and it plays smoother because the technology is 50 times better. You cant beat that. If take the for example the Xbox version of Madden and compare it to PS2s version. The PS2 version doesnt stack up- it looks like crap. Why would anybody choose to play a sucky looking crap game over a better version!? :)

There are alot of good games on Xbox that are out now. All I was saying is PS2 just has a bigger choice of games. Like GiveMPsAChance said there are some good games that will always be exclusive to PlayStation only... Tekken is great, Metal Gear Solid is great, ManHunt is awesome...BUT theyre not a good enough reasons to go with Play Station I think deep down inside all you guys know that XBOX Rules. :D :scream:

I prefer Xbox..because everybody knows that bigger is better when it comes to personal possessions...
Actually I like it more because of the graphics, hardrive and Xbox Live. It also has many excellent games released now and upcoming games.Everyone should definitely check out Ninja Gaiden!

You know, I thought about not commenting on this thread, because I was afraid it was going to come down to fanboyish name calling. And, what do you know, it's happened somewhat. So, you guys and gals have fun with this thread. It really doesn't matter what system you have or what you think is better. If it's really tearing you up inside, just get them both. They're both price effective right now. However, I've based my comments on pure fact. So, that's good enough for me. Adios. I'm off to post about porn on a porn forum. Freaky, no?

lol, wise move snatcher! I've kept quiet up until now because I don't own either systems... but I guess if I had to make a choice it would be XBox for all the obvious reasons - Better graffics, games*, controllers, etc.

Design-wise, the XBox looks like something from the early 90s and weighs a tonne, but although the PS2 looks a bit more desirable, I've heard too many tales of it having glitches - 2 of my mates who each have one have both had trouble. Also there is ofcourse the problem of memory - with all those quality PS2 games out there you're gonna have to buy additional memory cards to save your games to, which is not the case with the XBox. As for the controllers, sure the original XBox controllers were a bit on the bulky side, but they've sorted that now. Do I even need to comment on the dated PS2 controllers... or the fact that Sony again decided to only put 2 controller ports on their console?

Ok, I agree with you about graffics not being that important but hey, the XBox has this over the PS2 so it's a valid reason! Oh and lastly...

*Games - Just because a console has millions of games to choose from, doesn't mean that half of them are any good! Pretty much any gaming company can freely make a game for the PS2 and a lot of them are piss-poor. You know I'm right.

And this is coming from a guy who hates Microsoft! ;)

I have both systems. I started out with the PS2 at first, but from what I heard with Xbox and their graphics I tried it. Only reason why I'm with PS2 is, GTA San Andreas. If the next installment was on Xbox, it be a different story.

and now that x-box is $149 its gonna pick up alot of new fans that couldnt quite afford it when it was $179 which is a good move by microsoft..

AND ITS TRUE ABOUT THE MADDEN ON PS2 BEING INFERIOR TO THE X-BOX VERSION,THE X VERSION KILLS THE PS2 ONE.

Racing games are all the same, Nothing ever is THAT amazingly new in them besides the car being shiny. You gotta look towards the games like Ninja Gaiden and Halo 2 the games that kick ass.

Need for Speeds cool but the best racing game to this day is Midnight Club 2. Its still alot better than the new ones that are out now.

Actually I could care less about how good the Xbox or PS2 are. I just got a little caught up in reading comments and defending the position I took in my 1st post but the truth is that it really doesnt matter... All game systems have there plus's. I play PS2 all the time at my friends place and I'm hooked on Manhunt. SOCOM is good too. I know Game Cube is not apart of this topic but but I even play that all the time with my girlfriend and her son. They have Zelda- Windwalker which I got to admit turned out to be a pretty cool game once given a chance. All the consoles have good games. Ninja Gaiden on Xbox is fucking intense. That is a real kick ass game. I just bought that only a week ago and already I'm heavily into it. There was one point yesterday when I was playing it that had me on the end of the couch. What makes this game great is its a strategy game but it mixes the fighting moves of Dead or Alive. You have to be on your toes and work out a good fight strategy to survive situatios. Ninja Gaiden is the future. Its awesome.
