yeah but Bloodshot you are ignoring those HORRIBLE accents, Michelle Bachman and the fucking COLD 6 months a year!!!!! and the best girls in the US????? either you haven't been to California and Florida or you like big corn-fed big boned girls. I love Minneapolis, in fact next month's dinner with Mariah contest winning dinner is going to be there. You also forgot to mention Andrew Zimmern and some pretty decent restaurants as well ;)

NY.. Not worth the cos tand the quality of life has deteriorated greatly everywhere.

I live on Long Island which sounds so glitzy and posh with images of the Hamptons and the jet set Hollywood.
My cookie cutter house in suburbia is over assessed and I pay really high taxes.
It's a traffic nightmare that gets worse and worse with perpetual road construction.
It got hit very hard from Hurricane Sandy particularly in western part of island including Brooklyn and Queens.
The area and people are still showing scars from that storm, myself , family and friends included.
My taxes are exceedingly high on my house. I love NYC , but I certainly can't afford to live in Manhattan.

I'm taking a trip upstate NY next week to Niagara Falls and other places to have my son look at colleges.
Upstate NY is beautiful , but pretty depressed economically .
I want to move out of NY. I give in, I can no longer make it here.

I've heard that if you want to see "the real America" you have to travel to this area.

Like I said I could have went on and on.

As far as big-bone corn-fed girls, well if you head out of the TC you can definitely find them but a lazy stroll through the Mall of America on an afternoon and I can assure you you'll be breakin' your neck the whole time if you do. Straight up bunnies left and right.

BTW the cold keeps the bad people out, like Prince once said. And the accents aren't nearly as bad as they portray in 'Fargo,' at least not in the educated inner city or surrounding suburbs.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I am proud of my state because the beaches are beautiful on the coast and the Blue Ridge Parkway in the west.

Your state also has some of the best "untaxed liquor" in the world (so I hear - I wouldn't personally know)... well, just AFTER my state, that is! Plus my girl and her family are from there... and you're not West Virginia :)D), so you're OK by me.

Whether it's their country, their state, their town/county, their school, their favorite football team, their political party of choice, people just like to be on a "team". And they like to brag about how great their team is doing... even if they're personally sitting on the bench for the whole game

The richest county in America, and 5 of the top 10 richest counties in America, are in my state. But since I wasn't one of the richest people in Fairfax County when I lived there, what the hell does it matter? :dunno: It's like bragging that the Rams beat the Bears. But since I didn't catch any touchdown passes, who gives a crap?

I love the fact that this thread, decrying people for bragging about their home state, has turned into a thread where people are passive-aggressively bragging about their home state.

My aunt who lives in Annapolis says that this area is America's heartland.
That's true, it's commonly referred to as the "heartland", but to say that it's somehow "more American" than the rest of the country is misleading.

Yeah! What's up with that?! :shy:

BTW, wanna hear a joke about West VA? What do ya call an 18 year old virgin with 6 brothers from West Virgina? A damn fast runner!

/crickets chirping/ :flaccid:

Alrighty... remember to tip your waitress and try the veal.

I've never seen much of this macho pride from where I'm at. I live in Michigan and pretty much everybody I know that lives here dislikes this state.

Well being an Englishman I will put my spin on all this. I've been stateside a few times, but these are the actual states I have been to. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Colorado, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas & Wisconsin.

I will say from these states the most patriot, love their state and what it stands for were the people of Nebraska. They do love their fucking corn on the cob a bit too much though.

Next time you're across the pond visit Seattle and the Puget Sound area in Washington State. It's breathtaking gorgeous up here:

Did you have the balls to swim with that Whale? ;)

5 years ago I was due to go to Seattle with work, but two weeks beforehand I snapped a cruciate ligament in my right knee playing footy (UK footy). So C'est la vie, I will make it there one day. Stunning pictures.

I don't and I wouldn't recommend it. Several years a go there was a pod of orcas who followed a salmon run deep into one of the inlets over on Kitsap peninsula. There was a big to do about it at the time and one guy was out in the middle of them in a tiny kayak. Orcas aren't known to attack people but there's not a damn thing you're going to do to stop them if they wanted to in that situation.

I know, I know, just kidding. You would have been animus axed so it was a smart move.

I love Seattle and could live there if it weren't for the rain. way too often for me. I need sunshine at some point in every day. born n raised in LA and then living in Florida it's a way of life for me. But I do love Seattle and Oregon and Northen California

Yeah, that's the tradeoff. Other than between the months of June thru September we're in a perpetual state of cloud cover, drizzle or rain.
