Woman sat dead infront of TV for 42 years...

I think it would have been interesting if only for the time capsule aspect of the place...

...Also I wonder...Did the television keep running for those entire 42 years?

I agree with the time capsule idea. It would be awesome to walk in there.

As for the TV, if it is like ones that I've had, it would turn off during the first power outage and not come on automatically when the power is restored. However, her TV was at least 42 years old, so I really don't know how it would work. Probably had a pull or twist knob or dial instead of a button to turn it on.:dunno:

I'll bet she was a nielsen ratings household used to measure what TV shows people are watching. No wonder the TV shows suck.

 That explains everything. LOL. Too funny.

She must have been a true loner if no one noticed. However, would the TV have overheated or something? What about the insect infestation?

after that long, an insect issue probably came and went. of course, if the story is true or not is a whole other issue. the tv? did they say it was still on? it probably would have overheated and eventually blown a fuse or something. *shurg*

She would have been even less than a skeleton after 42 years. Maybe not dust, but getting there. So the smell would have been done with a LONG time ago. Her TV would have been from (at the latest) 1966, so yeah, with the on/off knobs on those, it would have come on after a power outage. I'm amazed that a TV would have lasted 42 years, especially the picture tube that hers would have no doubt had.

Still, 42 years? And not one person, especially someone investigating her disappearance, put together the fact that she might be home? I smell that a bull has been here.... and he left us something............

In 42 years, I'd be amazed if there wasn't at least one power cut that turned it off. And if there wasn't, it wouldn't of been tuned. It's not impossible that there could of been some static still playing. But that is a one in a million chance.

ah yes, the power would have been cut, i would think at least. unless it was an apartment or something like that where they share it.

so when she didn't pay her rent for 42 years the landlord never got suspicious, try to contact her or even resell the place???

After reading the story it seems she owned the apartment and therefore wouldn't be required to pay any rent. Taxes and other bills would be forgone if no one would have been able to contact her because she was officially missing.

42 years is a stupid amount of time to finally think about searching the missing persons home. That detective should be looking for a new job now.
