One word: SOCIETY
We all know that society changes every single day. Over short periods of time, society reinvents itself and people do their best to change their lives in accordance to what's "cool" at the time. Currently, society makes it seem like truly romantic gentlemen are complete and utter losers that women should want nothing to do with. For some reason, over the past few years, our society has made "gentlemen" look like clingy momma's boys with low self-esteem. Obviously, that is not true, but what society wants, society gets.
If a guy sends flowers to his girlfriend at her office...
Used to be: "Aww, he is so sweet. He's a keeper!"
Now: "He sent me flowers...at work? He's trying too hard."
If a guy writes his girlfriend a poem...
Used to be: "This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I love him!"
Now: "What a fucking weirdo. Who writes poems?"
If a guy offers his jacket it to his shivering girlfriend...
Used to be: "Aww, you don't have to do that. Thank you honey."
Now: "I don't want it. I'm not a baby. I can take care of myself."
If a guy opens the car door for his girlfriend...
Used to be: "Thank you so much. You are really thoughtful."
Now: (NOTHING) Why? Because they don't even notice.
Not all women are like this, and it is completely unfair to ignore the fact that there are very, very amazing women out there who actually respect romance, but, for the most part, and to quote Dave Chappelle...
"Chivalry is dead...and women killed it."
