A complex storm system involving two areas of low pressure will spread snow and ice from the southern Plains to the Northeast through Friday, while rain and strong thunderstorms move through the Deep South.
The Winter Weather Center reports the storm pushing through the southern Plains is already tapping into the abundant warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico.
Snow, ice and fell across the southern Plains Thursday. The wintry mix tonight will move through the Ohio Valley and central Appalachains before reaching the Eastern Seaboard by Friday morning.
