Winter has arrived in the Netherlands, some pictures.

Yesterday evening it started to snow and when we woke up this morning there was about 20 cm's of snow on the streets. It hasn't stopped snowing all day in the north (that's where we live) and now the snow is up to 35-40 cm's. Here are some pictures I made.

Winter arrived in Canada not too long ago too. But Unfortunately it isn't as cheery as it is in the Netherlands.

We had some tiny flakes of snow earlier where I live but the ground is just wet looking, it never lasted. I live in Ayrshire (Scotland). It was like a very light snow shower that didn't last long. And I found myself shouting at the snow from through the window telling it to "fuck off". I fucking hate the white shit. It slows everything down and is not nice at all. These pictures in your post, Boothbabe, they look mad so they do. See the amount of snow on top of the bins (buckets)... FUCK ME!. That is deep snow indeed. I probably wouldn't mind visiting the Netherlands during the Spring, Summer or Autumn. But NOT the Winter.

From the looks of the video, it looks like its still pretty cold out. Could poke an eye out with those nips.

Shouldn't dress so lightly when its cold out, you'll catch a cold! :tongue:

I don't remember the last time my area snowed that much, we only seem to get a little bit of snow these days. Nice pictures though.

It's minus 2 degrees celcius right now. We haven't been to work today because traffic was completely stuck in the north. Even some of the snow shovelers that were deployed got stuck :1orglaugh

I probably wouldn't mind visiting the Netherlands during the Spring, Summer or Autumn. But NOT the Winter.

It's been a long time since we had snowfall like this. The last time was 4 or 5 years ago.

Are the Canals going to freeze this year?

I hope so, I love iceskating (there's a thin layer of ice on the water right now). The race for the first marathon on natural ice has really taken off

The canals in Sneek are nice to skate on but it really doesn't matter that much to me. If there's ice I'll skate on it

Sneek is nice, and it is part of the Elfstedentocht which I'd like to do completely some day.

Looks like Minnesota. We were -5 all day the other day and we now have about 10 inches on the ground. The only puzzling question I have is, why the hell aren't the Dutch good at hockey? :dunno: All the other countries north of there are some of the best national teams in the world, and it looks cold enough that you guys could have outdoor rinks several months a year for the young'ns to hone their skills. Just curious...

You should count yourself as lucky. It will snow like that where I live, except it will all stay and won't melt until the spring.
