Will Smith bitch slaps reporter

I don't think Will Smith did anything wrong here. To me it looked like he offered his cheek, as is the custom, but this guy went too far. The last line in the link even says, 'TMZ notes the reporter's amorous interview methods are all part of his "shtick."' He is probably trying to be the next Sacha Baron Cohen, and if so, these things will happen from time to time.

i dont see why he had a problem with that

He was caught unaware which is what that "reporter" was hoping for, to get a reaction out of Mr Smith so he got what he deserved.

We have free speech and I don't expect everyone to comment about something they actually know what the hell they're talking about. It's easier to make up an answer than make sure this answer is supported by evidence and not an assumption of common sense. It's a custom. He didn't kiss him on the lips. That wouldn't gotten a bigger reaction. Many countries have the custom of kissing on both cheeks (even the Mafia do that) and being someone who's been in entertainment for decades, you'd think he'd already know about the custom. Now, who the hell is that women with him. Where's Jada? You know she would've set Will right.

Funny how I saw this thread on here about Will Smith and I have just started The Fresh Prince show for the 9th time today. That's right folks I've watched the entire show 8 times already (all six seasons of it) and now soon to be 9 times. The only decent things IMO that Smith has ever done is The Fresh Prince show and Hancock.

That kinda crap don't go over here in the states, he's lucky Will didn't go Ali on his ass! :D

Will Smith, slap, Ukraine, Russia...

The google analytics for this article must be off the charts!

Will Smith is the only guy in Hollywood who wouldn't get arrested or cancelled for beating his wife. He couldn't leave enough of a mark to produce any evidence.
He's also the only Black man in America who can assault someone on live TV in front of hundreds of people and not be afraid of getting arrested.

I'm sure that will be a theme with next year's Oscars. A stage full of White people holding candles will demand the release of many violent felons... as long as they promise to live more than 40 miles away from their mansion.

God, 5 minutes after it happened (and I didn't even watch the awards show) and I'm so tired of this slap. Slap this.

Even for comedians, some topics are off-limits. Health is one of them. Making fun of someone because he/she is losing her hair is like making fun of a disabled person. Not even mentionning that, for a women, losing her hair is particulary tough and traumatic.
If Jada was in a wheel-chair, would Chris Rock have asked if she was gonna replace James McAvoy as Charles Xavier ?

And I don't understand why som many people seem angry at Will Smith. He did the right thing : he stood up, defended his wife's honor. He slapped Chris, he did not punched him. It was very mild violence. Otherwise chris would not have jocked about it right after.

I maintain that this is 100% a work and staged.
This happened as ratings for award shows were the lowest in years and basically on life support. They even shortened the show, and there were no huge game-changing movies this year that everyone cared about (ok, maybe Spiderman, but that didn't get nominated now, did it?)

Also pretty convenient that Will would win an award later in the show and given a chance to "apologize" for his actions on TV, instead of having to wait to issue a press release after the show. Also No criminal charges, injuries or lawsuits.

I mean, look at the show in general. If it weren't for the slap, would there have been anything newsworthy or controversial that would have made the Monday morning news?

Yeah, total BS in my books.
