Interesting enough, it's usually the sound that is causing people to react, not the smell. Try fart in a buss full of people and do a huge noisy fart and everyone will be looking at you with disgust or laugh while moving as far away from you as possible regardless of the strength of your stink. Fart silently and cause whole bus smell like a sewer and people are likely to be sitting all happily there thinking what the fuck is stinking here without saying anything like nothing ever happened...
