Why do we drink?

Much love for Jimmie boy.
But, on topic...I think it wasn't until I was 25 or 26 that I stopped drinking to get *****. These days, if I drink, I drink what I enjoy drinking.
I really, really, really want to take 2 weeks and go through the UK cider tasting.
Ho hum... a couple of weeks ago... I seem to recall someone weaving their way to the store to get more Bacardi Dragonberry, upon return sits down in a chair only to fall out of it again.... But admittedly, you didnt do it to get *****...
My excuse will be that I'm swedish, plus I actually do enjoy the alcoholic beverages that I drink.
And hard ******, my mums pickled herring together with some Aquavit, Absolut or some other schnaps that you guys probably wont have heard of unless you´re from scandinavia, nom nom nom.

My intent wasn't to get falling out of the chair *****. It's just that the dragonberry is so fucking yummy.
The main reason is escapism and to try to feel better emotionally. The sad thing is that it is actually counter-productive for one very big reason.....******* is a DEPRESSANT! It's kind of like drinking gravy to lose weight. Ha ha ha! Besides, whatever problems you have before you get sauced......you're still going to have them after you sober up, and if you are an alcoholic, your problems are likely going to be 10x worse actually.
I wasn't really much of a drinker before my heart ******, but on those rare occasions that I did drink.....I tended to drink to excess. But since my heart ******, I don't drink at all anymore.....and since, like I said, I wasn't much of a drinker before, I don't actually miss it at all.
Non-alcoholic, or "near ****" is the biggest mystery of all to me. Why in God's name would anyone want to drink **** for the taste alone? :dunno:

As for ****... I DO like the taste of it, provided its the right **** and not that pisswater the americans call ****.
And lets face it, a **** or some **** with your dinner is damn tasty.
Asking why people drink **** for the taste is similar to asking why people drink Cola. Its a retarded question. Different people have different taste.
I think most people do drink as a form of escapism though. You said you do like the taste of ****. Do you mean that you would drink **** for the taste ALONE & would still drink it if it contained absolutely no ******* in it? That's the part I don't get.....why anyone would want to drink non-alcoholic ****. For me, sans the buzz.....I don't see the appeal. :2 cents:

Umm... I said I like the taste, yes, even without the ******* I would drink it, provided its the right kind, however most n.a. beers are the watery kind. **** comes in a plethora of different flavours, some taste great while others have a label that says Budweiser or Heineken.
The problem is that the ******* actually does add to the flavour, it gives it a slight twang that you dont get in non alcoholic beers, if they find a way to add that then absolutely, bring on the n.a. beers all the way, since that would mean I could go out, have a few pints with friends, and then drive home again.
Thats pretty much my drinking habits.....great after a long day to quench your thirst

People say that the truth comes out when you're ***** but whenever I'm ***** I act like someone who's not me, say things I wouldn't usually say and think things I wouldn't usually think! In the morning I think "why did I do that? Why did I say that?" I think ******* makes us people we're not, not bring the truth out! I do genuinely love the taste of various different alcoholic drinks and I don't mind being a little ***** because it's funny talking about stories of when you were ***** with your girlfriends but being ***** for me is a big "no, no"! Then again, I say this everytime "I'll never get ***** again" but I'll soon be back to that state when I'm out drinking with my girlfriends! Haha! It kind of just happens by accident! lol

On a serious note, you are right, people do drink to deal with anxiety - to "sefl medicate," like you said. They also drink for the euphoria, to help them ***** (another self medicating technique) and for other reasons as well. I don't disagree with you. Although, you have to wonder if poppin' some seroquel or xanax isn't, to at least some extent, bad for you as well.
As for my drinking, I'm sure I will quit cold turkey in the very near future. I vow that I will never drink in front of my ********, ever. Never once in my life have I ever seen my parents so much as take a drink. My ***'s been "*****" a few times in her life; my *** gave up both smoking and drinking cold turkey the moment he met mum. But I do have relatives that have battled the bottle.

No really, 90% of the ******* I drink is paired with a meal....**** just goes with bbq....a nice merlot just goes with filet....pinot with a pasta dish. Makes the eating experience that much better.

Personally I've always liked the taste of **** since I was a *** and as I've gotten older I have developed a taste for ******* especially Irish *******. I drink because i like the taste of what I drink and avoid drinking what I don't like such as red ****, gin and most fruit liqueurs.
