Well no surprise I guess since I meet my husband at the strip club. He was the only client that didn't ask to sleep with me. That wasn't very cool on his part. People on care about themself and If people use different names it's for a good reason. Why would anyone try to put someone's life in danger like that. 1. It's easier to remember & pronounce (Jana Hotorkova is a lot harder than Jane Hotpants (just made these names up))
2. Privacy reasons (some girls don't want their family to knowe & others don't want to be stalked by weird people like me (DRATS!) )
3. Contract (some sites give a certain girl a certain name that can only be used on their sites/videos/magazines)
4. A bigger audience? (if you look for Lynn, you'll find X pornstars. Search a bit more on the ones you like & you'll find many other names. The same goes for every other name & not everyone searhces for every name)

My husband got into an "internet fight" with a childish webmaster about a year ago, and as retaliation the other webmaster posted all of my person info on the largest adult webmaster board in the world, my ss#, my real name, my address, my cell phone #, etc.....it was very scary. Luckily my husband has the person cell phone # of the guy who owns the board, so after one phone call and 10 minutes later the guy was banned and the post was deleted....

and everyone thinks "who cares? it was just a webmaster board", but apparently this board has over 50,000 registered members and usually has upwards of 1000-2000 active posters and lurkers....

but that just got me thinking about my privacy big time. I now am very secretive about everything I do in my real name, and I always think in the back of my head "who can get this info"?

Another reason for a lot of different names is that sometimes the name is owned by a certain company, like the webmaster, or video co. So when they change, they must change names. Kind of like wrestling. For Example, WWE: Dudley Boys, when they went to TNA: Team 3D.

I just recently read an interview with a porn director talking about this. He mentioned that often variations in spelling or entirely incorrect names is simply due to the nature of the industry. The director actually works with the star, the editor puts her name in the credits, and the distributor makes the box cover. Yet, those three groups often have very little communication with each other. So you end up with a game of telephone with mistakes all over the place. Even worse, every time one occurs, that name gets added to that actresses list of aliases, which makes it that much more likely that some lazy editor or distributor will stumble across it and repeat the error.

also in the case of my girl Marie Leone the director screwed the pooch and ms-spelled her name on the cover art on "super soul sistah's" he put "marie lorne" and ol' mr. rodney moore screwed up on her first name on chocolate honeys 8 putting "maire leone" so that is some of it too.

Yeah, I understand that people (esp. women) in porn feel the need to protect their privacy. But as Will said, just pick a stage name... and then stick with it! Only if you pick a name that might get you in trouble (like calling yourself something that is exactly like or too similar to a known celebrity) should you need to change it. And I guess if some porn company has a contract which gives them all rights to your chosen alias, then if you leave, you may have to change it again. But good grief, some girls have half a dozen names. If you're an entertainer (and isn't that what porn stars are?) and you make money by developing a following, then how do you expect to develop a following if you have five or six names and few people know who to look for when they want to hire you or buy your movies? :dunno:

But at the end of the day, if you REALLY want to totally protect your privacy, then you shouldn't allow your image to be portrayed on ANY publicly available site. You don't have to be James Bond to find someone's real identity just from a picture. To think otherwise is to be naive.
