Same reason Rome couldn't keep out of others peoples buisness 2000 years ago.The romans were the seat of the empire and lived like it.And so does the US, don't kid yourself a withdraw from the affairs of the world means all the benefits the US gets and let me tell you they are many would be threatened.Not that I don't think maybe we do have to figure out a way to not need so much of the world resources to be happy.The US is 5% of the worlds popualtion and consumes more than 25% of the worlds energy resources.That isn't all happening by accident and without influence from us.As the rest of the world developes we are going to be confronted with the problem of what we want and what is fair.They are not the same and have led to a lot of the resentments and problems we face.
