I doubt that's the reason she did. It just says worlds about who she is. She has a cell phone as a crutch. A lot of women have weird attachments like such. They are immature.

I met my wife at 18 and the first thing that impressed me about her was how she did not display virtually all of the attributes of every other woman I ever dated.
