What was your college experience like?

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Something else I can't stand about colleges is the fraternities.

You know all the Kappa Kappa Pokemons and Pie Sigma Stooges.

I can't stand fraternities, sororities or anybody who is involved with them. Most people (that I know) who are in a fraternity or a sorority act like they are so fucking sweet. Why? What's so sweet about putting yourself through a bunch of meaningless stunts and embarassing tasks just so you can hang out with people who probably don't even like you to begin with? Why would you want to be "friends" with somebody who won't be your friend until you embarass yourself and "prove your worth" to the group? What a bunch of idiotic morons.

u wanna go back to college for wild parties? that's the sadiest thing i've ever heard...u know people, that know people, that know people, and they invite you...hello?

I think that I've implied that nerd-life was my college-life. I spent 8 or 9 years in college study writing, history, then film. Unfortunately, none of these could offer stable incomes in the post-college job market. Therefore, I spent those years being too unhappy to become more social because college, to me, is about removing the promotion ceiling and need for minimum wage, yet I could never imagine myself pursuing any degree that could remove them.

Once I made the decision to obtain an Accounting degree, I became much. much happier - and more willing to be social. Unfortunately, I met a lot of far richer students in those clubs. They only seemed to care about those people of use to them. In fact, I found, in these clubs and out, a tendency amongst college students to group and be friends with those a lot like them. In Business School, I was about a decade older than most.

Unable to relate to the social types, whether because of my own misery or my own age but unable to see any job progression without a degree, I just accepted - or settled on the view - that books and the knowledge gained might be my sole friends.

I still don't think any one person deserves blame for this. College has many student types. I simply didn't find others more willing to group with me. College advisors are sometimes too overloaded with appointments to really discover a student's unhappiness unless a change-in-grades happens. My one beef with college advisors, however, is their willingness to keep a student in a program even when they don't know what the student's career goals are. And, finally, my mother never went to college.

it's really true what you're saying, no matter what type of degree you get, you will never be able to get a great job right off the bat - unless you got connections like those rich kids. that's why the best thing to do is get internship or job experience, even if it is in a min wage job, at least you have your manager to vouch for you if you try to get another job. after that, just try to work hard to the top.

as for college, college is just 4 years of showing your employers that you can learn. most liberal arts degrees don't mean shit, because if you're majoring in poli sci, you're basically writing papers arguing about shit. the purpose of that shit is to cause you to think about other things and take different things into account that you normally wouldn't have.

as for social life, college is like high school except really fucking big. you got your jocks, nerds, goths, etc. i don't relate to a lot of ppl at my school either, but the best thing i found is to focus on what i wanna do, and hopefully things will work out later.

This week i finished university and waiting for final grades. :)

I never went to late night parties and fucked drunk girls. I was a lazy ass but luckily pass most courses with quite high grades.

I had 5 big failures with girls, 1st one was pretty hard, 3rd one was made me look like a fool. I don't care them at all now.

My university is in the same city i live in. I was spending 3,5 hours daily in home-school-home track. Pretty exhausting and i missed the great dorm stuff.

I learned that nerd girls could be very hot too. :)

Teachers are mostly assholes but their assistants are understanding students.

Some students can wear social masks to get high grades from teachers.

I had one student-teacher sexual fantasy. :)

I also understood the cost of losing something better.

Everyday at university was a fashion show day. Plastic blondes invades school. Eye candy everyday. I always had window shopping.

I got sticked by two-face people. Thought that they were my friends but i am their enemy.

Whatever! I'm an unemployed businessman. :) Where is my champagne?

I should have said fraternities and sororities, same thing really.

I guess people want to fit in, so they join them to be "different." :D

Even though they serve no true purpose.

I don't know why people think that way. Taking a Philosophy course and so on can be beneficial.
What if the person taking that course or a course like it wants to become a writer or write something on the subject and makes money from their book or books on the subject?

Agreed, college is for learning.
Too bad most colleges are teaching Socialism
and most people never achieve the careers they study for, their major.

Also, the girls who become pregnant in college
and all the people who contract sexually transmitted diseases in college is far too high.

Agreed. ;) This society is backwards.

What about all the date rapes that occur in college?

Inebriated girls and just girls who do not think and are raped.
And, the guys usually walk away scott free and never see jail time.

That has to change.

That happened to a friend of mine in college, she got so drunk that she passed out in the bathroom and got raped. She caught chlamydia from it too. I always stayed onto her about drinking around the wrong crowd and she would never listen. She would also never tell me who it was that did it because she knew I would kick his ass, which I can't understand why she wouldnt want me to anyway.

I here you on this as well. I was much happier with my group of friends, which consisted of 5 people not including myself that I knew really enjoyed my company and wanted me to hang out with them, instead of about 30fucktards in a fraternity that probably wouldnt even want me around. They were preppy and I walked around in a band t shirt, ripped jeans and a beat up old Yankees hat. It would never have worked in a fraternity even if I had have wanted it to.

• No frat for me

• Held a part time job M thru Th and sometimes Friday
• I was cramming studier :o i.e. -> "Julie, tell me the truth . . don't fuck with me now ! be perfectly serious . . is there really really an exam tomorrow ? does your friend have any speed ? . . . Thirty ? ($) OK, be right over. :nono:
• I Didn't bed as many co eds as I may have liked, but that was my "fault", I suppose, being the loyal, heterosex guy that I am. Although, maybe it's best not having a gf while going to college because a break up surely kicked my ass. A very painful experience that took about a year to get over.

All in All ~ Great memories :o

Note -
All of you young 'uns, I know that this is redundant and you've heard it a million times, but here goes -

After college, live each and every day to it's fullest potential. Don't lose track of time ! Cherish each and every day 'cause all at once, you'll find yourself in your mid thirties . . . but college seemed like three years ago !

OMFG it scares the shit out of me, this time flight !

College was the best five years of my life so far. I was away from my parents for the first time, I lived in close proximity to thousands of sassy coeds, and there were endless supplies of booze and drugs. Going to class was a very small part of the education I received while at college. Being immersed into an eclectic and high energy culture encouraged me to learn from the "school of hard knocks".

I graduated from college almost five years ago, and I still haven't quite figured out how to get as much satisfaction from life these days as I did while in school.

It turned into a disaster. To put it simply, I ran out of money and time through circumstances that weren’t under my control and couldn't finish college. Even before that 80% of the stuff they made me learn was either totally unneeded or I already knew it. It’s never fun to fight a loosing battle. The way it was ran made it the biggest time and money waster of my life, and in the end I got nothing for it. I paid for that wasted time for years afterwards when I had to struggle to find work and then struggle trough miserable jobs paying off loans. What my father game me was never paid back at all so he lost all thousands of dollars he invested in my future. It's made even worse by the fact I see people that are dumber than me, with much less of a worth ethic, and that are assholes succeed in life all the time (or at least do much better than I have) either because they were born in the right situation or your willing to cheat or do unethical things I'm not willing to do.

What's truly "fucking pathetic" is how you think that having a lifestyle that involves getting "head" from "hot drunk girls" is something sweet.

Oh, and those so-called "nerds" that you speak of will probably end up being your boss one day, so I wouldn't be acting like they're such big losers just because they don't go out and try to get laid like every other college douche bag that exists.

This is a prime example of how ass-backwards our society is.

Go out, get hammered and fuck random drunk girls = You are so cool
Stay in, study and get good grades = NEEEEERD!!!

:dunno:

I don't get it...

VyseLegend isn't the usual nerd though. He rarely studies and spends most of his time watching anime and reading comic books. He has no interests in Law or Philosophy but in spite of this, he's majoring in Philosophy because his father pressured him into it. His real desire is to produce music. So it's like he's living someone else's life and not his own (which may account for his depression).

Again, nothing wrong with studying and being smart. But to voluntarily turn down partying in favor of watching some obscured Japanese cartoon is truly fucking pathetic.

She should have reported the incident.

What if he rapes another girl?
That's why people need to report everything.

Sounds like that's what he wants to do, which makes it his choice.

It's pathetic when people are going to parties to fit in.

What makes parties such a great thing?
Getting drunk and waking up in the morning with a hang over or
waking up next to someone you don't remember from the night before.
Then wondering why it burns when you pee.

Sounds like fun to me.

Uh, maybe he enjoys doing that.

Not all people are mindless zombies who do whatever society tells them to. I don't go out and party and hook up with random sluts. I would much rather sit at home and play video games then spend my time being a cliche party-happy douchebag. So, do you think that I'm pathetic?

"Yes professor, you're correct . . yes . . yes !"
"BTW, Professor - I sure enjoyed that historical literature reading assignment" . . :pukey:

I can relate.

I agree with Chef and Will above that, if this is the guys choice and he enjoys it more than going to a party then he's doing exactly what he should do. Let a person make up their own mind, isnt that why your at university to become idependant? Following the mob doesnt make you independant it just makes you another lamb to the flock.

I think university life in the UK differs slightly to the US, there isnt this focus on the popular/nerd thing, which I thought only existed in the movies :dunno:. Yes there are parties there is alot of sex but I dont see anyone classified into a sect or group like your sarrorities do.

I suppose my experiemce is a bit of both, but there seems to be far to much work to do to be out getting drunk all of the time, yes maybe once a month or two months you have the time to get drunk and wake up next to someone you dont know. Buts it not like what I thought it was going to be when I was younger watching all the US movies, I dont know why I had those images in my mind, I probably watched to much TV when I was a kid :dunno:
