What is the latest good film you watched ?

Night Swim

Saw this the other day with my date. Film was decent, maybe not brilliant but for what it is, was brilliant, some good jump scares which she felt scared by more than me. I enjoyed the premise of the film. The main male lead played his role perfectly as a baseball player who is currently injured trying to make most of his down time. His family move into a house which has a swimming pool, which comes across as a healing tool, but is haunted.

If the plot is as stupid as this says it is... it might be more of a comedy.

A few:
Barbie (yes, barbie and it was funny, topical and had good messages).
Violent Night (good mix of santa slays and home alone).
Wakanda Forever (good send off to the initial characters. Cried a bit).
Avatar 2 (gorgeous and also a great story).

Sing 2

Enjoyed the 1st one so had to watch this. I'm a big kid so loved watching this with the family. Great all round film and the songs make you want to sing also

Pirates

A okish film about a group of lads who try to travel from one side to another of London to mark new years eve into the millennium. This gives off inbetweeners and superbad vibes.

X

This i keep hearing alongside it's prequel Pearl to be a masterpiece starring Mia Goth who seems to be an icon for these kind of films. Film is based in the 70's so picture may seem to be dated on purpose to look like a product of its time. Film may not be a family viewing film as even though the film is not a porno, the premise involves heavily on this as a group of people go to a rural property houses by an elderly couple to make the film. They soon regret coming here as it's not all all what it's cracked up to be.

Let The Wrong Ones In

A comedy horror film from Ireland about two siblings where one is a vampire, and the other has to make a choice on whether to help or slay him. There is alot of slapstick in this film even the blood parts doesn't seem gruesome.

Cocaine Bear

Despite this film being based on true events, i found the film to be quite funny, and one to not to take seriously. Great highlighting on how people even the most innocent change when under the influence.. Bonus points for babe Keri Russell being in the film

Ex-Machina (2014)
This movie is about a wealthy man, who lives in a remote area, who has built female cyborg / AI intelligent companions for himself. Security measures make it difficult to escape his home. An invited visitor becomes trapped inside, subjected to his host. A grim look into a possible future. A bit of nudity at times. I liked what happened at the end of the movie.

Great film. A masterpiece

A bit of nudity at times.

From what I remember, there was a hot Asian AI prototype, and a blonde prototype. Also, a lab with .. 4 or 5 other prototypes, is shown at least once. Could have been Elon Musk, if he went that route, vs. rockets.

Found some stills I took, while watching.

Legends of the Fall

A decent film starring a young Brad Pitt. Film was a bit slow in parts and is more a drama than a full on blood bath like other westerns.

Millie Lies Low

A New Zealand film where i don't recognise any of the cast. Film is quite decent about someone who their anxiety has got the better of them which caused them to miss their flight to New York. Film is a comedy but a slow one with not alot of laugh out loud moments.

Jackass Forever

If you're a fan of the series you will love this. There are other Jackass films before this, but i don't think you would need to watch them. As it says in the tin alot of funny moments from start to finish. This is a good laugh for 90 mins

Can you Keep A Secret

A nice rom com where you will be laughing alot throughout the film. Curious to watch this as it stars the talented and beautiful Alexandra Daddario. It has that typical formula like alot of films where 2 people don't like each other but they end up falling in love and have a happy ending.

In the Earth

A horror film set during the pandemic period where a group of people make an experiment but alot of unexplainable things happen. This has a very small cast, where you don't see any extras in the film at all as it's all the main cast. Only person i recognise is Ellora Torchia who is in alot of British shows.

Ghostbusters afterlife

A sequel to the reboot version a few years ago. Film is nor better or worse than the previous film. Film has a completely new cast from the previous film, however you do get the original OG's making their appearance in the film. It's meant to be a follow up to ghostbusters 2.

French Exit

A black comedy film which is based on the book about how a heiress who is now a widow who tries to make the most of her life after relocating to Paris with little or no options. This film has alot of funny turns

Safe House

Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington play the perfect duo in this action paced film. Some of the fight scenes are heavily edited which you can tell and isn't subtle.

The Theory of Everything

Based on the late Stephen Hawking which was adapted from some memoirs from Jane Hawking about their relationship and his success in the field of physics. Film is a bit slow paced but is appropriate for this kind of film. Felicity Jones plays her role perfectly as his wife and her emotions make the viewer moved as she tries to help Stephen but to no avail.

The Little Stranger

Think despite a lack of special effects, gore and a ghost which will insult fans of horror and fantasy, i say this was a decent film about a manor which could be haunted. Set in the 1940's a Dr is called into look after a sick person in the manor where he discovers spirits.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1

This is a film which is meant to be split across 3 films. Film was a bit long for me to sit through in one sitting but doesn't mean it wasn't good to watch. Alot of action, and some stunners to keep an eye on as eye candy which involve Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Rebecca Ferguson and Pom Klementieff. I enjoyed the special effects, and also Tom Cruise did alot of his own stunts in this film.

Bridget Jones

A nice rom com which i always wanted to see but never got round to it. It's a good comedy of its era about finding love for a 30 something woman who isn't living her best life. You watching this would want to cheer for Renee Zellweger to finding her Mr Right from 2 possible men in her life.

Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason

Not alot to say but it being the sequel. Film continues where the 1st finished off. It's not as good as the 1st film but still worth watching.

Zola

It's a black comedy crime film and is based on a trend back on Twitter about a stripper saga involving Zola the main lead of the film. She meets a friend who convinces her how to get more money but she gets in to deep on what it involves. This may not be a laugh out comedy but has its funny moments. It gives a perfect blend of social media and the dark dangers of being in such a situation. This seems to be very prevalent to those who work in the sex industry.

The Catcher Was a Spy. Good movie. Great casting! You REALLY need to pay attention at the closing of the movie - the dinner party, onwards.

Believer. I meant to watch it on NFLX a few months ago. Then, I saw that they also have "Believer 2." I finally saw the first one over the weekend. Very good flick! Some really interesting characters in the movie.

So this is an... interesting topic for a movie:

It's loosely based on a 2014 novel, co-produced between the United Kingdom and Poland. It's about German Nazi commandant Rudolf Höss, who strives to build a dream life with his wife in a new home right next to Auschwitz. The specific story might be fictional, but Hoss was real and he did build that garden & home for his family next to Auschwitz.

Flag Day

An average decent film to pass the time as the film intertwines between 3 parts of a daughters life whose father is a con man and bank robber who does all these things to justify his ends to a means to support his daughter. In the present day she is caught coming to terms of this as he is involved in one of the biggest heists in history

Charcoal

A south American black comedy about a man who is struggling to provide for his family, however he is given a chance by a drug lord but there is a catch to it and would he be prepared going down that road to support his family.

45 Years

A romantic drama starring the great British actress Charlotte Rampling who after having a marriage for over 40 years comes into question where the husband received a letter about his former love. The film is slowly paced as it highlights the beautiful past that has bought the troublesome present which stares into a questionable future.

Bad Boys

A classic film back in the 90's which i have been late to seeing. I have seen the 3rd film in the franchise though however so thought i give this a chance. Despite alot of bad reviews of the film, i feel this is still an iconic film of it's era in the cop film genre. This may not be a full on action film like die hard, but it's not a comedy like Rush hour. It has alot of good laugh scenes and memorable action scenes too.

Petite Maman

The film follows a young girl coping with the death of her maternal grandmother by bonding with her mother. Whatever your age this astonishingly insightful film will pierce your heart as you wipe away tears. This has alot of emotional moments throughout the whole movie

Death To Smoochy

A dark comedy starring the late great Robin Williams which shows him in a different light to what i have been use to seeing him in which is more slapstick comedy roles. In this film he has more of a dark persona which you don't want to be rooting for as he is a villain. The plot is silly but still watchable as it has alot of laugh out loud moments

"On Golden Pond" (1981) A story about a young boy, who visited with an older couple, at their cottage beside a lake. Each time I watch this film, I'm reminded of my family tradition of spending the summer with grandparents. Fishing, picking huckleberries in the woods, swimming. 1970, the best summer of my life.
