Papillon (2017) a remake of the original 1973 version starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. I'm not a big remake fan and was kinda long at 2hrs 15min but I thoroughly enjoyed this flick and would highly recommend giving it a watch. Especially if you like true stories.

I just saw it with my wife. We both liked it. Makes me want to listen to the older Queen albums again. I think I’ll upload some stuff in the music listening thread later.

Funny but I don’t think the film had a mention of the Flash Gordon soundtrack.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Holy shit. The first vignette was Tim Blake Nelson as singin' cowboy Buster Scruggs and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. There were some huge surprises and the other five parts of the film were pretty dark but well worth the watch if just for the first part. Liam Neeson plays a particularly unlikable character in the second part but it is mesmerizing. Tom Waitts plays a prospector in another scene and it's also fascinating. There are some pretty big name stars throughout the film but my favorite popup was Chelcie Ross as the grizzled fur trapper who just wouldn't shut up while riding in a stage coach with Tyne Daly and Brendon Gleason and a couple other dudes.

Chelcie Ross was the middle aged pitcher in "Major League" who drank Jobu's rum, for point of reference.

One of the best films I've watched all year.
