If you use FreeOnes to upload images, it downsizes them to a maximum of 758 pixels on the longest length; whether it is height (portrait) or width (landscape). Whilst you can drag it out so that it appears bigger, it will actually make the image look worse than it does already because you are making a lo-res image bigger rather than resizing the original image. It's already been compressed by the time you've uploaded it to FreeOnes.
So, in order to continue doing what you were doing @Slowhand69; you will simply need to use a different image host. When you insert the auto-generated forum code it gives you to post the image; it will appear at the maximum dimensions that can fit on the page embedded within the forum; and anyone can see it at it's absolute largest size by clicking the link to it.
BTW, Abload states that you cannot upload porn in it's terms of use. So as long as you make a wise choice with your next host; then you shouldn't have the problem of having images removed later down the line. There's not a lot that can be done about that now.
Glad you decided to stay! I checked your page today and was bummed to see all the pics have been removed. Hope you can find another host site for your great content![]()
@DrakeM - that's not a recommended practice because it is posting a link directly from another site. They uploaded it for no other reason than for it to be viewed on their site. They don't want people linking to it and using their bandwidth. The day could come where they disable hotlinking or bans FreeOnes and then your images will no longer work. This is why you are supposed to use reliable image hosts.
Your example does however highlight what I was talking about in terms of the differences between using FreeOnes and not; although you are most definitely supposed to use an image host rather than linking directly to content other websites have uploaded themselves for their own purposes.
Nope. I am making sure to hit the correct button. Even when I hover over it, it says Insert Image (Ctrl+P). But when I click it just has a drop down to insert a URL, nothing else.Uh .. are you "sloppy mouse clicking," and clicking the 6th icron from the right, the .. paperclip? That icon is to insert a link. You want to click on the icon to the right of it: a square, mimicking a sun over a forest.
Here is the explanation. You physically can't do it yet. https://www.freeones.com/forums/thr...d-before-posting.573233/page-12#post-11552571Nope. I am making sure to hit the correct button. Somebody didn't read post #16!This seems like the best place to post this so here goes: Tips on attaching pictures to forum posts - size matters
Through trial and error I've discovered what seems to be the optimal sizes for pictures to be attached to forum posts. That's where you click the picture icon from the toolbar and directly upload an image. I try not to do this but I will when a web site does not allow hot-linking to pictures (see my #27 post above on that topic). The problem is that if you exceed the optimal sizes for uploads, FreeOnes seems to use a horrible and slow resizing tool to make them fit that cause the pictures to come out blurry. Instead, resize them yourself with good software then upload them.
FreeOnes has limits on picture dimensions that, for large pictures, will refuse to even attempt to upload them. I used to know them but it doesn't matter if you stick to the optimal dimensions and here they are: (drum roll) width 750 pixels, height 1000 pixels. Resize your picture to fit into those dimensions and FreeOnes won't try to resize it and it will upload faster too. There may be a total number of bytes limit but I've never hit it.
Too bad post #16 isn't accurate. It says 758 is the max dimension. Nope. It is actually 754x1000 (I said 750 above to make it easy to remember). Try it yourself. A picture 1000 pixels high and less than 750 wide will be uploaded as-is and if you then save the pic you uploaded (after posting) it will be the same dimensions and number of bytes.Somebody didn't read post #16!
The point was that this was not the revelation/discovery you were making it out to be because it had already been made known that this downsizing takes place.Too bad post #16 isn't accurate. All I was attempting to do was give people (accurate) guidelines for optimal image sizing to avoid downsizing by the board. I would hope we all understand this isn't the only way to share images. I don't really care about posting downsized images because I always include a link where people can get the full sized image. If this really is a bandwidth/space issue for Freeones, then y'all shouldn't include a button to upload images. As long as it is there, people will use it.The point was that this was not the revelation/discovery you were making it out to be because it had already been made known that this downsizing takes place.
...
The way you are speaking is as if using FreeOnes is the only way to share images.
