What Is The Best Way To Post Pictures On This Forum?

Hello everyone,

I have been using the same host site for years, but now they have blocked my account. It is apparently forbidden to upload "erotic material" on this site. I have been using this site for almost 10 years, so it is a little strange that they are to block my account after such a long time.This also means that all the images I posted here over the years, will soon be removed by this host site

I've been thinking about stopping posting on this forum, but because I still like it I decided to stay.

Now I have a few questions for you. What is the best way to post pictures on this forum? Do I need a host site for that? And which host site can you recommend?

First of all, we'd be sad to see you go, you're a valued contributor to the board and I'm sure I speak for everyone else here.

Secondly, like @Pornfan99 says, it's best to just directly attach images. I'm not sure why people are still bothering so much with image hosts as this is always likely to happen. None of them are especially reliable. But you can always rely on good ol' FreeOnes!

If you are still more into image (Including GIF) hosts, I can tell you some, but, hosting directly via FreeOnes is the best way to do it. Just give it a shot

... plus you are just shy of the big 25 K post count, you can't throw that away NOW. You are one of a very few people that go that far, and with really great posts.

I have a question about using the "rectangular box". If I upload an image from my hard drive for my post, can I then delete it from my hard drive without the photo disappearing from my post? I hope you understand what I mean.

Since when does an image host, in this case, the German abload.de ... take it upon themselves and decide what's in the best interest? Ugh, it seems like censorship and other bad vibes!! George Orwell's 1984 is starting up again. "Big Brother is definitely watching you" ....

Supa -- I'm just not getting this. Please explain. Slowhand's image host is abload.de. If they are blocking his account and if it's not censorship, then what is causing his pictures to not be viewed on the forum?

If abload does not host your images, just switch. That doesn't have to be made into an issue about the whole country.

I advise to use https://www.picr.de

So just to confirm I'm not doing something stupid, here's what I see when I add pics to a post:

- When you you link to a pic, it shows up in the post as a large image resized to fit the browser window generally as a great quality image
- When you upload a pic to FreeOnes, it has a maximum size of 1500x1000 pixels and even then it is always shrunk down to a small crap-quality image unless it just happens to be small enough to fit the browser window. And that's on top of all the recent (weeks-long) problems with loading pictures in the first place.

It is the second one that I avoid because the quality of the images displayed in the post are usually garbage. Seems to me that if the board can do the first one, it can do the same for the second instance even if it maintains the 1500x1000 limit. However I was told in another thread that "the code is different, blah blah blah" so no.

Is this what y'all see or have I been doing something wrong for 12 years?

If you use FreeOnes to upload images, it downsizes them to a maximum of 758 pixels on the longest length; whether it is height (portrait) or width (landscape). Whilst you can drag it out so that it appears bigger, it will actually make the image look worse than it does already because you are making a lo-res image bigger rather than resizing the original image. It's already been compressed by the time you've uploaded it to FreeOnes.

So, in order to continue doing what you were doing @Slowhand69; you will simply need to use a different image host. When you insert the auto-generated forum code it gives you to post the image; it will appear at the maximum dimensions that can fit on the page embedded within the forum; and anyone can see it at it's absolute largest size by clicking the link to it.

BTW, Abload states that you cannot upload porn in it's terms of use. So as long as you make a wise choice with your next host; then you shouldn't have the problem of having images removed later down the line. There's not a lot that can be done about that now.

When I hit the rectangular box (im guessing you are referring to the insert image icon) all I get is a drop down to insert a URL instead of a picture. Do you need a certain member level to post pictures straight to a post maybe?
