What does bump mean on freeones?

It's a post in a thread that serves only to move the thread to the top of the page again. Usually if someone is asking for something, and another user sees the thread languishing on another page, they'll reply so it moves up to the top and the request is noticed again.

I see that a lot. Can someone explain when we use it?

As new posts are added, existing threads get pushed back. Some people believing that a thread may have moved beyond the pages a new or returning user would be inclined to read through, "bump" it to bring it back to the fore.

Although, we don't encourage you to 'BUMP' old threads..

There are guys who mainly post in the ID forum with 1000's of posts, who if you deleted all the posts they had that just contained the word bump, it would reduce their post count by 50 -70%. Some of the forums I frequent don't even allow bumps. So if you don't want to venture into a thread with 4 pages but 3 of those pages are full of posts with the word bump, stay in the Talk forum. You'll find more intelligent posts here.

PS - You'll find some moronic posts here too, but at least they are usually full sentences.:thumbsup:

I hope oldguy reads this thread. He has the word "bump" at the end of all of his posts.
