Indeed, I'm no expert but it does seem that they are overlooked somewhat when people discuss that era. I suppose its because they're up against The Stones and The Beatles. And I guess three's a crowd.

Well, that depends. I liked ICP for being a band that spoke out for people the society would call "loosers" or nerds (such as myself). You couldn´t really categorize them. Now they try to be perceived as "gangsters" from the "hood" in my opinion. That´s pretty shitty.
The "Joker cards" (Carnival of carnage, Ringmaster, Riddlebox, Great Milenko, the amazing Jeckel brothers, and the Wraith) are still entertaining as hell combined with a message: Live and let live if you´re cool and down to earth.
...now it´s all about marketing and hype, back then that would have ment (citate) "a ***** in the windpipe".
