By any chance do you remember "120 Minutes" on MTV? I believe it originally started around 1986. Midnight on Fridays if my memory serves me. Great show. They'd only play alternative music videos. That's where I first saw The Godfathers' video. It's also where I first saw the video for this classic 80s gem:

I vaguely recall it from the early/mid-90s. My intro to Alternative was listening to KROQ in LA during a 1992 visit.
