Website membership vs. buying DVDs - Best quality format

I'm interested in acquiring high quality(fidelity) adult content but I'm unsure about which route I should go. For the companies that don't offer Blu-ray and only DVD format physical copies. I'm wondering if it's better to get a membership and download from their website to get full 1080p or 4K resolution. There are some full films I would like to get, but DVD obviously wouldn't offer the best quality available. Any advice?

Also, does anyone know if some big companies will be moving over to blu-ray in the future? I like Evil Angel, Jules Jordan Video, Reality Kings etc. I don't really know why most or all adult production companies don't switch to blu-ray.

If it's high fidelity that's your priority then you've answered your own question. Websites that offer 4K content are going to be higher quality than any blu ray or dvds. Plus there are sites that have a lot if not most if not all of several studios' library available to download. Videobox is one that comes to mind.

And physical media is so passe.

The thing blu-ray physical media has on download is the very high quality. Apparently a normal feature film on blu-ray is around 30GB, so downloading and storing any amount of full movies would be costly to implement (buying lots of high capacity hard drives). I'm not sure how much loss you get from downloading directly from website vs DVD or even blu-ray. I'm thinking if it's only on DVD, and I download the exact same thing from the website at 1080p, the download will probably be better.

Plenty of GOOD websites offer HD downloads that are of the same quality as Blu-Ray discs. I've watched a ton of 1080P downloads on my HDTVs with no real complaints. Plenty of bad websites offer crappy looking HD videos for download. It depends heavily on the camera they use and the compression settings. I have yet to see any bad looking UHD content since it requires a UHD camera and high bitrates. All the big names are shooting their video on 4K (or higher) cameras now and releasing their content on Blu-Ray in addition to various resolutions of video downloads. I only know of a handful of sites - which were always run on shoe-string budgets with little resources or effort put into them - which still shoot on HDV and release low-bitrate HD vids with low-grade DVD releases.

WHen it comes to porn I ditched physical media a long time ago. Why buy a dvd when you can create your own compilation movies with downloads?
