....is stuck in my mind like a bad *****. An adult gorilla sat and stared at me for a good five minutes (plus). This is the closest I've come to gorillas and I must say I left the *** feeling sad. Primates do not belong in captivity! That is akin to a human being locked up in prison. Sorry, but I had to share my thoughts.

It's not akin to a human in prison....people generally do things to deserve being in prison...they usually belong there. While I have mixed emotions about ******* in captivity, if it was a "real" ***, it was probably treated very well, and taken care of better then many people take care of their own ********...still, I see how it is sad that a majestic creature like that, isn't free. The gorilla was staring at you, waiting to see what you would do...I guarantee if you stared back at that gorilla, it would have seen it as a challenge, and acted aggressively in some way, to exert dominance, or send you some sort of message.

But it would be a mistake write off zoos completely, a lot of the time they're doing a lot of good. Of course making ******* entertainment pieces for willing customers leaves a bitter taste in the mouth but with our ever increasing encroachment into ****** territory and our propensity to **** them at will for commercial gain, whether that is to sell parts of their carcasses to whoever will buy them or to remove them as predatory threats to our livestock, zoos are institutions that have been able to keep certain species alive for the time being. So as long as we as a species are going to continue to act in our own self interest and of course we will, zoos and to a somewhat lesser extent game reserves seemingly are the only option we have open to us if we want to keep certain species alive.

I'll upload a pic that I took of the 'guy' sitting by himself and just looking at all the excited **** trying to get his attention. You could clearly conclude that he was not very comfortable being in the enclosure. I could say the same for all the other *******, but primates are highly intelligent and very close to us.
I saw one at the *** in Denver, after staring at him a while the big bastard rushed the glass and I almost lost control of the bowels!

it's either they survive in captivity or we lose them forever in the wild. i prefer we preserve them.
granted some zoos lack the budget or even professionalism to make some *******' enclosures appropriately sized and comfortable, but for the most part, zoos do good things.

What did you expect to find in a ***. ******* with some form of intelligence and emotions are bound to feel like **** in there.
Sorry but I'm used to seeing them in their natural habitats. It a school field trip of which I was a chaperon.
We have one of the few (I think it might be the only) free ***'s in the nation in my city. I haven't been there in ages. But yeah seeing the creatures in captivity is kind of sad. The two polar bears they just brought back there recently can't be too happy. :dunno:
I **** zoos, but with gorillas, they might be the only thing keeping them from complete extinction. It beats being mowed down by a Congolese asshole with a Kalashnikov.
Last time I went to the ***, they didn't want to let me out again.

I **** the baboons that stick their red butts out at you.
Were the bears, birds, giraffes, elephants, anteaters, and lions equally sad?
