Every reason to worry about "us" if the "us" you mean is human beings.If you are worried about some specific segment of that then that is your own thing.As I said everyone on the planet needs to be worried about the population as everyone will suffer from the results of over population.But it is not just population that is the problem,high impact lifestyles among certain populations are a factor also.That is why certain countries have higher impact then others and of course that is the developed ones especially the US.But the ones who aren't as high impact and never have had that luxury must also now pay the price for the ones who were and must not try to emulate what the developed ones have done or the consquences will be severe.Many such things must be addressed globally, everyone on the planet must recognize that population must be controlled and reduced.There is no way that will ever come to pass while certain countries think we are going to live one way and the rest of you are going to live a very different way.As we have seen with things like the US being ********* to make moves to reduce its impact(rejecting Kyoto as an example) which is by far the the highest per capita.Were the ones that had the big party with great lifestyles while otheres were /are worrying if they will get their bowl of rice today,which is getting more difficult as we speak for some.And yet we cry well were not doing anything till all the others agree to match our reductions.Talk about hypocracy.
Now on the immigrant issue,as far as I am concerned it pales in comparison to the issue of climate change and over population.As a baby boomer though I am not worried about whether or not the ratio of workers to retirees is much less then it was in the past.We will still get our benefits,it is the workers(younger then boomers) who will suffer from much higher taxes to support the large amount of retired boomers.Think AARP and the older folks in the country are a powerful lobby now ,just wait till the biggest generation ever (who knows how to protest lol) is the ones the govt is dealing with.Social security and related will be/are now cause were starting to retire now really untouchable for changes.
But lets end with whether or not things are fair or not to certain groups is irrelevant in many ways.We are facing sure disaster if population and its effects are not dealt with.Will you really care if the world as you know it ends but at least you saved white america and felt that at least you were not hypocritical?It will matter not at that point.But I think what will have to happen to constrain the damage being done will be really much more unfair to the countries and people who never enjoyed all the benefits of the great lifestyles in the past,but again thats just too bad they have to pay the price as well.

PS: We cannot change what has happened in the past(although there was some warning us about the trends for a long time,but many were convinced technology would solve it all somehow) and most of what occured was all well intentioned so this is not about finding blame.However many ******** people had in the past and their lifestyles is water under the bridge.

Oil shortage ,maybe not yet but it is a finite resource that we are consuming at a very high rate.And the world is consuming right now just about every barrel produced with little margin left over.That means that any disruption in production anywhere would ripple throughout the world and produce price spikes.On global warming even most oil companies no longer have paid people trying to deny it any longer as Exxon as an example once did.I will put up a bunch of links I think make clear just what is happening.Will some always deny it,sure but some still deny evolution or that the earth is even round lol.And on population that one is undoubtley true and it is the undelying cause of things like warming.I don't think you will find any link for anyone who says don't worry the world population is not to large and is sustainable.I will put up a link though that makes plain the dire consequences of our current population and how one way or the other it will be reduced,eithier by us or by nature.

I wasn't sold on anything on the population website. It ignores that there are changes in technology that allows for greater food production, less energy usage...

As for the climate. I respectfully disagree that everyone agrees and the science is settled. The Oregon Petition contains thousands of signatures from "scientists" whatever that means. I read a bunch of pro and anti arguments about the petition and whatever you might think of it there are a good amount of more or less qualified people that don't see it.

The earth warms the earth cools. Humans didn't cause any of the earths many ice ages and humans didn't cause the little ice age of the 1600-1700s. When the vikings settled Greenland it was warm enough that they grew crops, raised cattle, and didn't see any Inuits for almost 300 years because warming had driven them into northern Canada. I don't think we caused that either.

BTW, I am not in any way knocking your decision to have 5 ********. That decision was taken many years ago when there was nary a word about global over population and insufficient foodstuffs; in the media anyway.
I merely feel that going forward a ****** should only have one *****. After all, this is not the 1700's when a large ****** was essential to a healthy ****** unit, in many cases. I can think of few, if any, reasons why someone would need to have more then one *****. Want? Sure. But not need. And with the problems that most people believe the Earth currently faces, it is certainly prudent to hold off on a large ****** until one can be sure that the Earth will be able to adaquately and comfortably sustain them throughtout not only their lives, but their ********'s lives as well.

My reading does not show that at all. I am certain that there are oil industry funded groups that dispute global warming but a quick jaunt through the internet will show you who they are. There are others like in these stories.
