Actually, women started tattooing their stocking "seams" on back in WWII, during a nylon shortage. It was popular with sailors wives. They wanted the appearance of always wearing seamed stockings, and I did too.
It's not incredibly common these days of course, but I like the thought of always wearing a little bit of lingerie.
