The fact that he is the same in every film is a different point though. All the big Hollywood actors are the same in every film (Will Smith, Jim Carrey etc) Hollywood does not value versatility.

I like his characters. Yes, they are all very similar but that does seem to be the way he is naturally. He was kinda different in The Cell and some other movies I can't think of off hand where he plays villains. I'm probably not going to see the his new movie (though Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis, and Kristen Bell are all very tempting)

DeNiro hasn't shown any true quality for over a decade now and Pacino hasn't given a good performance since the 70s. So yeah, it would seem that assumption still rings true - especially in the modern age.

I didn't actually mind Dodgeball, but overall I agree with you he is the same character (himself basically) in every movie.

There are very few actors that are fully versatile. Look at 90% of hollywood most get cast in roles not because they can act a thousand different ways but because the role is close to their acting style

Heath Ledger had versatility. From William Thatcher in A Knight's Tale to the Joker in The Dark Knight, he portrayed a wide range of characters.

Vince Vaughn may be the same in every movie, but his movies are still funny. They aren't great movies, but they are good for a laugh.
