Ok, I need your opinions here. When you're browsing sites what do you prefer when you click on a link? To view that link in the window you're already looking at or to have a new window open?

Example:

Premium Link Upgrade : All of the links on the page open in a new window.

Premium Link Upgrade : Links open in same window.

New window. I open unapproved attachments in a new window, too. I have a feeling that it loads faster this way. And it's convenient to open two or more related links simultaneously, which is not possible when they open in the same window.

Isn´t there some sort of "unspoken rule" that links that point to another site should open in a new window? At least that´s the way it seems to be on most mainstream sites, so if you follow that "rule" they should open in a new window.

New tab, easily. Seeing that many posts have multiple links (which can have multiple links in themselves), it is a lot more efficient and much easier to navigate.

New window/tab mostly. I agree with Patrick_S... when the link points outside your site, good web etiquette says it should generally open in a new window/tab.

It depends for me...on how fast I want to preview something. If I want to preview it fast..it seems the same window is faster or more convenient since you only have one link to close when you're done.

I would say leave it default to same window and allow users the choice of opening in a new tab/window on their own.:2 cents:

As far as babe links from msg boards opening in new tabs or windows...that is great. Please don't change that.
