When I measure while he is in a straight angle with the body I get one more inch of length. How did you guys measure it??

Well then you did it wrong! It's not going to be the same length if you measure it from the bottom as suppoed to the top. If you measure it from the bottom it's going to give you a good inch or two more than measuring it from the top!
