True Blood

i'll definitely be watching tonight

True Blood is a great show. You need to watch more than two episodes to get the story line. Looking forward to watching it tonight.

Agreed.

When I started watching it online last season,I told myself that I was only gonna give it 3 episodes before I bail out on it.My friend and his girlfriend told me to stick with it because it would definitely pick up after episode 3,and they were right.I'm glad that I did stick with it because it turned out to be a really good show.

The only thing that I dislike about the show is how they made Tera into your stereotypical hard ass, troubled black girl.I really wish they wouldn't have done that, and now I'm really hoping that they kill her character off this season, because I can't stand that bitch.

This is the exact logic that I'm talking about. WHY continue to watch something that's bad? That's a waste of time. If it's good the first time, I'll watch it a second time. I watched it twice and didn't enjoy, why watch it a third time with the mentality "well, maybe *THIS* time!"

That's silly and defies common sense. I'm not going to shit on anyone that enjoys the show. I realize that people have different tastes and that's cool. I'm sure I watch a lot of stuff that other people aren't real high on, so I'm not trying to take some high and mighty stance on the issue or anything.

I'll take the Soprano's, and you can have True Blood.

I don't know how you'll take the Sopranos, considering that the show is over.

All kidding aside,There are some annoying characters on the show,I'll give you that, but if you didn't like the first two episodes, then you are just cheating yourself. The show really doesn't start to pick up until the end of the 3rd episode,if I recall correctly.

Maybe your just not into the whole vampire genre,I get that, but truth be told,it's a lot more to this show than just vampires.I applaud the creators for bringing something more that just your typical story about vampires, even though the show was adapted from a book/s.

There are plenty of shows that don't start off very good but after a few episodes, end up being rather good.I would suggest that if you bothered watching the first 2 episodes, watch the 3rd,when the story actually picks up.If you don't like it then, well o.k.,I can see where you would think it's not for you,but to give up on it after 2 episodes isn't giving it a chance, since it doesn't start to get good until episode 3.

That's idiotic logic. I "gave it a chance" twice. That's the point! Ever heard of first impressions? They do matter. I'm sure they're not losing sleep over losing me as a viewer. However if they would have had a better, more compelling, better acted first two episodes, maybe I could have gotten more into it.

"I didn't like the first episode."
"Well, the second episode is better!"
"I didn't like the second episode."
"Well, the third episode is better!"
*repeat*

Hey,calm down Beavis,no one's forcing you to watch it.I'm just telling you that I too though the first two episodes sucked, but since my friends told me that it got better in the 3rd episode,I gave it one more chance, and liked it.Had they said "Oh,it get's better in the 6th episode",I would have said fuck that shit.

If it were for first impressions, shows like Cheers would've never made it.Good thing that people actually gave it some time and a chance because guess what?It ended up being one of he best sitcoms in t.v. history.

But,if you don't like it then that's your prerogative.I'm definitely not hating on you for not liking it.There are plenty of shows that I feel the exact same way about, like The Sopranos,House,Bones,Big Bang Theory,Gray's Anatomy, and the list goes on and on.

The Sopranos were not that great the first couple of episodes either. That show became much better in season 2. Some shows you have to watch and then you get a feel for it. Like The Dollhouse. The writer of that show reveals more about the characters in each episode.

No one said you had to like True Blood. It is a good show though, just not your taste in shows.

True Blood on HBO is another show to have come out within the last couple of years that has caught my eye. I know the vampire craze is starting to get more then a little bit old but this show is different and unique. The vampires aren't toothless Ken dolls like in the Twillight Series. Alan Ball (American Beauty and Six Feet Under) created this series based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries novels. (I have not read them yet) It centers on Sookie Stackhouse, (Anna Paquin who is fantastic in it) a waitress with the power to read peoples minds and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer who is also excellent), a vampire that is 170 years old who was turned at the end of the Civil War.
The setting is a fictional town in northern Louisana in a world were not only vampires exist but so do werewolves, psychics, shapeshifters, and witches.
Vampires have "come out of the coffin" and revealed their existance to the outside world after a Japanese company has introduced a subsitute for human blood (True Blood) that has made drinking from humans almost uneccessary.

It's a very baudey, erotic, and at times very sad and very funny show.
Any other viewers?

My wife and I have talked about renting Season 1 and giving it a try. Does it appeal well to both genders? I've seen some reviews that indicated it was sappy and not very "guy friendly," but then I think, "How can seeing Anna Paquin nude NOT be guy friendly?"
