Truck driver forced to show birth certificate claims racial-profiling

I also believe he was on a no fly list............but that's another thread.

Before he got his ticket or after? I personally don't know how the NFL process works..but from incident to investigation to arrest was pretty fast considering. Even if the guy got on a plane...the FBI would have been waiting for him when he got to Dubai.

Settling unincorporated land not under some recognition or formal treaty is not reasonably considered illegal immigration. Now that is separate from what happened to the indigenous people who were here but there was a time in world history where conquest was the order of the day. And it's the basis for nearly every recognized territory in the world.

A birth certificate alone doesn't prove anything...there are a combination of documents which usually demonstrates ID.

But some States became part of the US by swamping what was Mexico with illegal immigrants. It wasn't unincorporated land.
Not making judgement on this but it seems to have been forgotten in all the righteous indignation over "illegals" .

They weren't illegals as there was no existing law in Mexican Texas preventing individuals from becoming "settlers" there. After all, it was Spanish Texas before Mexico won it's independence from Spain thus incorporating it as one of it's states.

Parts of Texas belonged to several other countries...Mexico took control of the land after the Mexican revolution, settler militias took the land from Mexico and the US annexed it as a state.

I suppose if someone has big enough balls to take it from the US..then they can have it...just as these things have happened throughout history.

this may be a little off topic but why can the "white" guy with the T-shirt seen in New York who was "fleeing the scene" be profiled by the media (was he militia like enough?"), and nobody say boo! Obviously alot in the media wanted it to be a white guy, but there's no "puff" piece, no outrage, and especially a lack of people saying shit i really wanted it to be a white guy BUT I was wrong maybe. Maybe if the truck driver sues arizona (which is broke btw due to failed immigration policies), then the white guy in the t-shirt can sue nypd and the media outlets for profiling?

Something could be voted for by 99% of an electorate. That isn't the end of it...what ever is voted up must be constitutional also. If not...it gets tossed by the courts.

You don't know how your country works??

so the smoking ban Michigan just passed, really didn't happen? cause it's not in the courts, and you can't smoke at work or in a bar. It really seems that government is over-reaching with its power, and regulating peoples lives on a daily basis. For example some of the things the "O" has mentioned: what type of car i should have
that i need a "smart thermostat" that can cut off energy ,gas
and i need "experts" government ones to visit my house and see if i need to replace existing appliances, and dictating how my house should be insulated.

P.S. I do know how it's supposed to work.

And I apologize for being off topic

The g'ment can regulate what legal activity happens in places. When they fine or jail you for smoking in your home or on your own property then worry.

I do however have a problem with public smoking bans like some cities have in California.

Most of the things you cite in the rest of you post are incentive issues where no one is forcing you.

I believe before.

I believe before.

Hmmm...So let me get this straight (assuming you are correct). The man is wanted for an attempted terrorist attack and you think it would have been wiser to spook him and not let his purchase go through as oppose to possibly leading LE to additional co-conspirators?

I don't know what the nature of the investigation was. But they got the guy and apparently there was no danger the guy was going to get away since he apparently was under surveillance before he got to the airport.

Give it up Tri....

I am worrying, to be honest.

Heya Pete, did you ever find that value priced extra 35 horsies for your truck ? :1orglaugh

Well, it's not for my truck, it's for my team's race car . We didn't get the 35 we're looking for on the cheap, a new cam we just put in may give us 5 or 10, but anything counts when you're starting with only 105. Thanks for asking, nice truck btw.

i think he was put on the no fly list when they realized he was the person involved. i don't think he was already on the no fly list. i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure i read that somewhere
