Any fans here?

I don't like many of the new incarnations of the Transformers.
The movie and the new cartoon are too different from the originals.
***** Wars was okay, but I wouldn't put it in the original continuity.

Any thoughts?

The craftsmanship in the toys themselves has greatly improved. Compare the largely un-detailed bricks of the toys from 86-89 and compare them to the ***** Wars toys. The ***** Wars toys have more points of articulation and more detailed sculpts. This trend has largely continued until present day.

Stop for a moment and stop looking at transformers nowadays in terms of how they relate to ones you had as a ***. Look at them as an evolution of the basic concept.

Alternator Grimlock is a frustrating toy, but the Mazda Shockwave was pretty cool. I have them both.
 
Geraldhp42, I agree the craftsmanship is better, but changing some of them like they have isn't right. It's like changing Optimus into a small pickup.

The originals need to stay the same, but a few new ones would be fine.
 
Why do the originals need to be the same? It's not like the originals have gone away. It's not like the old semi Optimus is dead.

They did make Optimus into a Dodge Ram SRT10 for the Alternators/Binaltech line and he rocks.

I like the originals. ;)

They could change slightly, but not as drastically as they have been changed.

I could see a new character as a Dodge Ram SRT10, but that's not Optimus.

I loved the old Transformers...part of *********. I'd put them right behind Voltron and Thundercats for my favorite ********* cartoons!

I agree about the toys, though...you watch the old Transformers movie (the animated one), then look at the Megatron or Galvatron toys from that era...ugh.

After the movie he became Galvatron and was basically a jet thing with a big ***
