Josh Matthews Goes On Rant After Samoa Joe Tweet

UPDATE: As previously reported, TNA announcer Josh Mathews commented on Samoa Joe’s recent debut in WWE NXT on Twitter, saying, “How did the @WWENXT announcers know who @SamoaJoe was if we are #obscurity in their world? Sick of hypocrisy.” Obviously, posting such a remark drew him a lot of heat from other users online, and Mathews defended his opinion later on. You can check out some of his responses below.

Please. Joe is a TNA made star. https://t.co/tkq6jdyBxU

Bitter??? I don’t know, I’m not! I enjoy large sums of $$$ put into my bank. Life is good, kid! https://t.co/NtXCjBFKNU

No, I promise you, you don’t. https://t.co/8PmqCpLtXA

@AnotherIWCJerk Little longer than 5 minutes. My point last night was (and I don’t need to defend myself) we shouldn’t ignore facts.
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 22, 2015

Thanks, Josh. It’s funny that I’m defending a company I believe in & made a simple point that people will vilify. https://t.co/da9Hm2VayF
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 22, 2015

@hXcFuller not “all of a sudden” I’ve been in this biz for a long time. Joe’s past is not lost on me. I’m happy for him & his success.
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 22, 2015

I agree 100% & well said. I’ve mentioned WWE & ROH in commentary. Everyone has a past & Joe’s is amazing. https://t.co/NqeuFOTwjo
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 22, 2015

Easy, never “bashed” made an observation. Last time I checked that was allowed on my personal Twitter. https://t.co/y71Rl7nqW6
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 23, 2015

Lol, I guess I can’t have an opinion on anything… Someone who’s been CALLING wrestling matches for over 10 years. https://twitter.com/mrdrg_wir/status/601940194690904064
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 23, 2015

I FU****ING KNOW!!!!! I TALK ABOUT ALL WRESTLING COMPANIES ON MY SHOW!!! I TAP OUT!!!!! ENOUGH!!!! https://t.co/whrPxT3RoN
— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 23, 2015

ORIGINAL: While most people were quite pleased with Samoa Joe’s debut, Josh Matthews was apparently not among that crowd. Matthews posted the following to Twitter, claiming that WWE was being “hypocritical” in acknowledging Joe by his well-known ring name:

How did the @WWENXT announcers know who @SamoaJoe was if we are #obscurity in their world? Sick of hypocrisy.

— Josh Mathews (@realjoshmathews) May 22, 2015

It is worth mentioning that WWE has often acknowledged Ring of Honor, where Joe also worked under that name to great success before going to TNA. WWE has considered TNA to be a non-entity in wrestling, not mentioning Sting’s TNA run and referring to him as away from the ring between his WCW run and WWE debut. It has generally been WWE’s policy throughout its history not to acknowledge their biggest United States competition, though there have been exceptions to the rule.

James Storm On The iMPACT! Cancellation Reports

In an interview with the v2wrestling podcast, James Storm commented on the rumors that Destination America has cancelled Impact Wrestling. Here are highlights:

On the original idea for The Revolution: “The whole startup with the Revolution was a different vision than what I had in mind. TNA came and asked me if I would help these guys out a little bit, and I didn’t mind at all. My vision of it at the beginning was I wanted it to be me, Gunner, [NOBABE]Sam Shaw[/NOBABE], Lance Hoyt and Crimson. You look at that group and those are some bad boys. But they had a different vision of it and they asked me what I thought of it. I make the best out of everything that I’m given and if I’m able to help some guys out along the way, that’s what I’ll do. So far I’ve felt like I’ve elevated some of these guys up.”

On Billy Corgan in TNA: “He was at the last TV tapings that we had. They already had the TVs written and everything right before he came in, so I don’t think he was able to change stuff around. I got to talk to him and I shot some ideas and he loved them. He gave me some of his ideas and I was just trying to make sense out of some of the things he was saying. I really didn’t know too much about him except he was the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins, but talking to him and getting to know him, the guy knows a lot about wrestling. He looks at it like I do, from a fan’s standpoint. How will this translate over to the fans? Will they like this or will they not? Will they be like, this doesn’t make any sense at all? Because wrestling fans are not stupid – they don’t want to have their intelligence insulted by some crazy, ridiculous storyline.”

On the rumors of TNA being canceled by Destination America: “I’ve been told by the higher-ups that there’s nothing to worry about. TNA is owned by a billion dollar company, Panda Energy, so the money is going to be there. They talk about the network saying this and that. Every network wants great ratings, but the problem is that it takes time for the casual wrestling fans and the viewers to find Destination America. A lot of people don’t have that channel, or it’s a premium channel and they have to pay for it. My mom actually couldn’t find it until like a month ago. So it’s just taking people a little longer to find the Destination America channel. Nobody really knows except for the network and Dixie Carter, that’s how I look at it. Dixie cares about the wrestlers like they’re her own kids. If something’s going to go down, she’s going to have a meeting and talk about it with all of the guys, so that’s how I look at it.”

Rough translation : "If the well runs dry, I think Mumsy and Pops will lend me some more money."

TNA will do really well to get a new deal and will be lucky to still be in existence in 2016.

A Big TNA World Title Match Confirmed For June 28th

TNA announced the following today, confirming that the Kurt Angle vs. Ethan Carter III TNA Title match will take place on the July 1st edition of iMPACT! Wrestling, and not on the June 28th Slammiversary PPV as many thought. The title match will actually be taped prior to the pay-per-view, as TNA runs on a delay on June 24th and then tapes on June 25th, 26th, and 27th for six weeks of post Slammiversary TV…

When Kurt Angle and EC3 make their July 1st “Bell To Bell” World Championship Match official Wednesday Night on Destination America they will both agree to a unique clause in the contract. EC3 and Kurt Angle will choose each other’s opponents in the two weeks leading to their epic showdown. EC3 will have to sign the contract and later in the same night face an opponent of Kurt Angle’s choice.

As Champion, Kurt was given the option of deciding who would have the first match in this “Uncertain Fate” Clause. Was that the right decision? Let’s explore, with EC3 competing first it gives Angle an opportunity to scout and gives Kurt a much deserved night off after facing two opponents in Rockstar Spud and Austin Aries this past Wednesday night. On the other hand, it will give EC3 the night off just a week away from facing Kurt Angle for The World Title.

In any event, it is a very interesting time in Impact Wrestling, EC3 and Kurt Angle make it official at the start of Impact on Destination America, and EC3 will face an opponent whom we will all find out who it is together, when TNA World Champion, Kurt Angle tells us and EC3 at the same time.

* June 17th: Kurt Angle and EC3 Sign The Contract For Their World Title Match on July 1st and later that night, EC3 faces an opponent of Kurt Angle’s choosing.
*June 24th: LIVE on Destination America, Kurt Angle faces an opponent of EC3’s choosing.
* July 1st: Kurt Angle vs. EC3 For The TNA World Championship.

Jason Cook: ‘Dolph Ziggler Is Heading To TNA Shortly!’

Former TNA creative member Jason Cook posted to Facebook claiming that Dolph Ziggler is going to TNA once his WWE contract expires. Cook posted, “I know for a fact that Dolph is TNA bound. It’s been in motion for months already.”

He added in a later comment, “I’m telling you Ziggler has been praising the Tna shows for over a year. Even said impact was more entertaining than raw. Yes he said that and it got back to WWE and he’s been in limbo ever since. He’s made it clear with people in TNA that he wants in once his deal is up. Just watch”

Court Bauer said over the weekend that he thought Ziggler would leave once his contract is up, saying, “Dolph’s deal is up in a few months and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like [Johnny] Mundo.”

We’ve been reporting for several months now that Ziggler hasn’t been happy in WWE for quite some time now. He’s been very open to his co-workers that he likely won’t re-sign with the company unless things drastically change with the way he’s currently being booked. Honestly, can you blame the guy?!

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

Breaking News: Jeff Jarrett On Impact Wrestling Tonight

The MLW (Major League Wrestling) Radio Twitter account was reporting TNA founder and Global Force Wrestling promoter/owner Jeff Jarrett has been confirmed to appear on the live broadcast of tonight’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling on Destination America.

Major Update on Jeff Jarrett Appearing on Impact Wrestling Tonight, More Names Returning

As we reported just moments ago, Jeff Jarrett and wife Karen made a shocking appearance at tonight’s Impact Wrestling television taping event, which will air on a one-hour tape delay at 9:00PM ET on Destination America. The TNA co-founder returned wearing a Global Force Wrestling shirt, and made an announcement that he will compete in the King of the Mountain match this Sunday at Slammiversary!

Additionally, former WWE, WCW and New Japan legend Vader and two-time TNA tag champ Matt Morgan will be in action.

Wade Keller of PWTorch.com is reporting that morale backstage is “pretty rough” among the wrestlers, who were not told of Jeff Jarrett being at tonight’s show, or at Sunday’s PPV. Whether or not it means anything for business, the Global Force Wrestling owner being on TV with TNA after the fallout they had several years ago yields some heavy implications of a possible partnership or even a buy-out.

Conspiracy...
It looks like there is more to Jeff Jarrett’s surprise return at Wednesday’s live edition of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling than meets the eye.

Court Bauer, a former WWE creative team member, spoke of a rumor that he caught wind of regarding Jarrett being in the middle of an attempt to buy majority ownership of TNA Wrestling, a deal that could be the one Jarrett has been referring to on social media recently.

Additionally, it’s worth pointing out that there is talk of a TNA-Global Force Wrestling merger of some sort, however that is strictly rumor and speculation until otherwise confirmed.

Several are also pointing to the fact that TNA has brought back the “King of the Mountain” gimmick match that Jarrett made popular in the first place, for their upcoming TNA Slammiversary show, a match that Jarrett will be involved in at this Sunday’s pay-per-view.

Currently, representatives of both TNA and GFW are refusing to comment at this time. Once more information on this story becomes available, you can be sure you will hear it here first.

UPDATE x 3 GFW founders Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett made their TNA returns at Wednesday night’s TNA iMACT! Wrestling.

Jeff Jarrett will be wrestling in the “King of the Mountain” gimmick match at this Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary 2015 PPV event.

Also on the show were Vader and Matt Morgan.

We should have more on this story in the near future.

Here are some additional photos of Matt Morgan, Jeff and Karen Jarrett and Vader at this week’s TNA iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings. Hernandez also returned as well
