Top 20 Rock Songs of the 2000's

The first 10 years of the millennium saw the downfall of the music industry, as well as the movie industry, with just some exceptions here and there.

2000 - 2009 is the decade that will be remembered for boy bands (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, 98 Degrees) and blonde haired teen girls (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson) taking over the charts. Not to mention hiphop music still having a tight grip on the mainstream in all it's absurdity. On a sidenote, it's also going to be remembered for the endless amount of movie remakes and reboots made by Hollywood. In other words, it was not a spectacular decade in the same sense as the 60's, 70's, 80's, or even the 90's were.

However, there were still some bright lights shining the past 10 years in the world of rock. The following are my Top 20 picks for Best Rock Songs of the 2000's, in order: (Leave comments, make your own list)

No CLUTCH therefore you fail.

And thanks for making a thread that will always take my computer 5 minutes to load meaning I will probably never click on it again.

Sorry for not including Clutch. I just don't dig them.

Make your own list.

I added links to the videos for each one of my songs. That's probably why it's taking a long time to load.

What a terrible terrible list. I don't even like a single song on there.

Puddle of Mudd?
Nickleback?
Creed?
Audioslave?
Coldplay?
U2?
Green Day?

Man. This is just depressing.

PlasmaTwa2

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
How the hell does Pearl Jam make the list with a song from August of 2009? That's absurd.

Sorry, but I started to wince at Creed, and it got much worse when I hit Nickelback.

Honestly, I'd put Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" or "Telephone" (her album came out in '09) higher than any of those, except for the White Stripes track (which is quite good)...

I'm sorry, actually I'm not sorry at all for saying this, that list was fucking terrible. Please stay away from trying to make a top anything list ever fucking again.

Sure a couple songs in there are decent songs, but come the fuck on man.

"Artic" Monkeys

:1orglaugh

I value your feedback, but do keep in mind that I find these songs as the best of the years 2000 - 2009, and I am not ashamed nor sorry for my choices. I made this compilation on CD and I'm listening to it everyday in my truck with the windows rolled down too ;)

I would love to see your top 20 lists, just so I can be inspired to have better music taste :p

Don't we have about 990 years left of the 2000's? A little early to make this call IMO.

I'm afraid you misunderstood the thread. It's the best rock songs of the FIRST 10 years of the entire 2000's. The best songs of 2000 - 2009. The first decade. Get it?

Puddle of Mudd?
Nickleback?
Creed?

Coldplay?
U2?
Green Day?

Chris Cornell can do no wrong. :nono:

But yeah, the rest is shite. :1orglaugh

I agree, it has been a completely shitty decade. Of main stream bands the only ones I was interested in would be Them Crooked Vultures, The White Stripes, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Audioslave (ahem!), and Queens of the Stone Age. Pearl Jam had a few good songs here and there but I think their best is behind them now.

20. Clutch
19. Clutch
18. Arctic Monkeys
17. Clutch
16. Bloc Party
15. Grizzly Bear
14. Jukebox The Ghost
13. Bloc Party
12. Bloc Party
11. Minus The Bear
10. Minus The Bear
9. Minus The Bear
8. Minus The Bear
7. Minus The Bear

Chris Cornell did do wrong. Every Audioslave album after the first one. It seemed like they were just re-releasing the same album after that. Still one of the best vocalists ever though.
