TinEye problem

Eh..? I think you misunderstood me, Connor. I'm not talking about having more loose algorithms for similar image detection that would dramatically increase the amount of irrelevant results. That would indeed be a very bad idea. What I am interested in are the algorithms on how exactly tineye is doing it and I think I have some educated guesses on that (histogram matching and wavelet analysis used simultaneously, for example). That sort of functionality would be very useful for searching pictures locally on one's own hard drive. After all, porn collections tend to get pretty large nowadays..

By the way, Gazopa has been shut down. Good riddance.

Edit: FreeiOnes buyout of tineye would be awesome.

I read something on Gazopa that it was brought down temporarily, so they could redefine their focus. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

:1orglaugh I think mrtrebus drank too much cum as a *****

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh i don't know of the difference but tinyeye always comes up with dubious results -- for me anyhow .

Most of the time, you have to dig a little. More than half the ID's I get from using TinEye are only due to a result that leads me to another clue(s) which ultimately gives me the answer. You just have to be willing to put in the effort. That's why when I get one of those rare pics that gives a hundred or more results, I'll post the TinEye result(s) in the request and let someone else research it. There's a certain point where it's just too much work for me to want to do it.

Look at this... a great FO's user giving advice to the old newbs (etc) and their bated ears... :D shhhh... :p

Good stuff as usual Macleod... :hatsoff:

What's the deal with TinEye?

In their terms of service they say that searching pornographic images is strictly prohibited, but I see people all over these forums and the net at large using it find the origins of some rather "unsavroy" images.

Bottom line...is it safe to search for unknown pornstars in action with Tineye?

If not, what are the possible ramifications of doing it anyway?

Never heard of this 'TinEye'.

Obviously you've never stepped foot inside the Identify / Name the Babe section?

TinEye is used like the plague over there. It is just one of the tools in the arsenal of those who ID Actresses/Pornstars/Celebs/Centerfolds/etc..

:dunno:

My guess is that it was put in there for some legal reason(s), so as not to be liable/sued by the scant number of people who use it for something besides searching for porn.
