The 'Zero Dollar Bill'

Amazing!

For years Austrian economists and people like Dr. Paul have warned about the perils of deficit economy and run away spending... but no body paid any attention.

Now that we've literally been caught with our pants down, suddenly everyone seems concerned about the dollar and the economy.

Amazing! Simply amazing!

Clinton as you might recall had the budget well under control after the huge defecits of the prior administration. Why would his face go on a dollar bill worth nothing? He knew the value of a financially stable economy.

From the sources I've gathered, he was instrumental in this. Of course, those were right-wing sources, so I don't bother posting them (gopusa if you want to know though). :hatsoff:

A myth. If Clinton truly controlled spending and cut back on waste - why did our debt continue to grow? Didn't he "leave us with a surplus"?

There WAS NO deficit "reduction" and certainly no "surplus". I'm still surprised people talk about the surplus of the 1990s.

Here's some figures. Not percentages. Not ratios. Plain figures:
09/30/2005 $7,932,709,661,723.50
09/30/2004 $7,379,052,696,330.32
09/30/2003 $6,783,231,062,743.62
09/30/2002 $6,228,235,965,597.16
09/28/2001 $5,807,463,412,200.06
09/29/2000 $5,674,178,209,886.86
09/30/1999 $5,656,270,901,615.43
09/30/1998 $5,526,193,008,897.62
09/30/1997 $5,413,146,011,397.34
09/30/1996 $5,224,810,939,135.73
09/29/1995 $4,973,982,900,709.39
09/30/1994 $4,692,749,910,013.32
09/30/1993 $4,411,488,883,139.38
09/30/1992 $4,064,620,655,521.66
09/30/1991 $3,665,303,351,697.03
09/28/1990 $3,233,313,451,777.25
09/29/1989 $2,857,430,960,187.32
09/30/1988 $2,602,337,712,041.16
09/30/1987 $2,350,276,890,953.00

If we had "surpluses" - why did our debt keep going up? Why wasn't the surplus used to finance the debt?

Or.... did he just 'bait and switch' and use SS trust funds under 'income' and say "See! I balanced the budget!" ???
You can't have a balanced budget with a surplus... when the debt just keeps going up and up and up!

By the way: Clinton presided over the "Dot Com boom and bust" just as Bush presided over the "9-11 boom and bust". Neither of them were looking for "financial stability" - just looking to build political capital.

You cant really preach to the people when they have no idea what's going on. What's amazing is what it takes to get the attention of the people - you cant just tap them on the shoulder, you gotta use a shovel.

ATTENTION! *FWAP* Why'd you get a mortgage you knew you could never afford?! *FWAP* Why did you praise the economic stimulus bullshit?! *FWAP* Why oh why are you driving around a 2008 SUV?!

Conspiracy...
With the financial meltdown leaving many Americans wondering what a dollar is worth, one New York City artist has an answer — zero.

Our paper money has always been worthless. It's not backed by gold or silver and the Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air.

The Federal Reserve is neither Federal nor a Reserve.

Look it up.

The Truth Behind the Federal Reserve.

Good point, it seems than most in this country have atttention deficit disorder. Or simply don't give a shit because they simply don't or people than don't give a shit because they have lost faith in the system, because they saw the system for what it was and it was corrupted by a democracy run by multinationals.

I am at fault for not trying enough and simply accepting the way the goverment is as the way things should be.

Question...isn't big spending and expanding goverment (Big Goverment) part of the "new deal" method to keep the economy healthy?

Now, they should have put Bill Clinton or Barney Frank on it. That would've made 'cents.' :hatsoff:

There's only one president who truly stands out as the clearest choice for the zero dollar bill, with no close runner-up: George W. Bush.

Zero brains
Zero WMDs where he said there would be
Zero sense for good foreign policy
(Less than) Zero in our treasury

With Divider being 0 and uniter being 10... a ZERO

The rest of the world's confidence in the U.S. ... ZERO

The list goes on...

:2 cents:

(P.S. Bill Clinton would have been good for a 69 cent bill  )

Oh yes how Bill Clinton sucked, all he did was fix a fucked up economy by George Bush, then hands it off to another Bush, and he fucks it up even worse than it was before Clinton came in. Yeah Clinton sucks, lets have more Bush's in office. Lets elect Jeb Bush in 2012 and see if he can fuck it up worse than W and his dad did. If anyone should go on a 0 dollar bill it should be the Bush family.

Partially true, and I am no fan of W., at all, but the economy was actually starting to see-saw the other way before Clinton left office. He and the Dems. keep getting all this credit, and Bush and Co. keep getting all the blame, but really, brass tacks here, it wasn't all the Idiot's fault.

I'm an equal oppurunity hater. I dislike 'Jorge' just about as much as I dislike any other incompetent bureaucrat. Be nice to have an individual in office who had enough sense to make decisions on his own without a cabinet full of corrupt geniuses. Bush is just a monkey.

There is some claim here though: http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/guest/2008/tf_09301.shtml

Our politicians deliberate just how far down the road to the perdition of socialism/communism/fascism they plan to take our country in response to the latest financial crisis while we want to know the true source of the financial meltdown in the home mortgage industry leading to the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and today's attendant financial crisis. Let's follow the money trail back about nine years. Check out this article from the September 30, 1999 edition of the New York Times: (web site)

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. [Emphasis added.]

The article goes on to predict that such a strategy might not cause problems during times of economic prosperity but that Fannie Mae could run into serious financial difficulty during an economic downturn.

And here we are with the financial markets on the verge of collapse and the federal government debating the largest government bailout in the nation's history.

I'll get to the bottom of this. Just purchased this book: http://www.amazon.com/Creature-Jekyll-Island-Edward-Griffin/dp/0912986409

George W. Bush is no idiot my friends...

Took the case to Congress for war against Iraq...Congress voted for it!

When things in Iraq got out control, he would bring up social security and Congress/media got distracted.

When social secuirty/health care became a hot issue, he brought up the war on terrorism.

Took the Patriot Act to Congress...they voted for it!

Gas prices went crazy, W's lifted the ban on offshore drilling...Congress did the same

Paulson scared W's that he would loose his stocks and his financial future not his but that of the Bush (no pun) clan, he ran with it took it to Congress and guess what? They voted for the bail out!

He did what he wanted to do when he wanted to, Dick went around screwing (no pun) up, he managed to get re-elected for a second term, he started his presidency with a bang and he is going with a bang.

There should be a minus bill with the amount of deficit that he's leaving us with and his face plastered in it, zero is to kind for him.

Just because someone voted for something probably out of fear doesn't make Bush or anyone else intelligent.

I'll never comply with the subversive "patriot act".

It's all orchestrated anyway. :hatsoff:

Don't get me wrong I don't like the guy one bit. But when someone keeps conning a large group of smart legislators and they keep falling for it out of fear, who's the idiot? or better who's pulling who's strings.

I also forgot to add that wire tapping bill (where you can't sue phone companies if they illegally let the goverment eavesdrop in your conversations) Congress voted for it.

Sometimes does who appear and speak like idiots are the deadliest ones..how many american lives and Iraqis are the result of the Bush Doctrine?

He's an evil genious if anything.
