You Slut!!! Is that a compliment or an insult?

  • It's a horrible, bottom-of-the-barrel insult, and I avoid using it at all costs

if a guys says it, then it might be a compliment but sometimes it isn't. when a girls says it and she not a pornstar or anything then its probably an insult

I don't usually say it, but it's not positive.

I remember my dad using it once to describe a woman who'd had quite a few affairs - fortunately it wasn't my mum! - it was a gross insult but I got the impression that he meant it as a sad truth. Fortunately I've never had to use it in the same way (yet!) so I usually just say it with a smile.

We use the word slag in Britain. It's usually intended to illustrate dirt, even when appiled to humans.

It absolutely depends. People refer to themselves and others with a variety of names that can be pejorative, complimentary or neutral.

Do we need to even list the examples???

I mean, I wouldn't walk around the office referring to chicks as sluts on the off chance one might find it complimentary because she might actually be one.

But in circumstances such as porn where slutiness can be a good thing...how could it ever be an insult in all cases??

Frankly, I couldn't imagine how a porn chick would even sound trying to argue against being called one. Unless she was acting.

It depends.

it depends if it like- that fuckin slut backed into my car. then thats an insult. if its- oh, baby you suck cock like a fuckin slut. thats a compliment. of coarse if you say-dammit, you just bit my cock you fuckin slut. thats an insult.

I've always seen it as a insult in any sort of relatively non-intimate normal context where both people don't already know it's not meant as a insult.

I don't like the term and I would never use the term unless the person completely deserved it, and ironically even then it would have to be because of more than how many times she had sex with different people.

I clicked "It's an insult." The perception of this word may change and can be used in manners which are insulting in a friendly manner or in a sexual manner. But the context, as it stands now, yes I do believe is insulting on different levels depending on the recipient and how it is used. :2 cents:

^ i agree, in general, however, i've heard people use it as a friendly greeting amongst friends so it's also in that context that it matters. it definitely depends upon whether it is used among friends or used on a stranger or used with malice i suppose.

It's defined as an insult but the context is all about how it's used.

I don`t use that word normally, but if I use it then I suppose it can be an insult or compliment, depending on circumstances.

If it`s about pornstar, then it`s a compliment for sure.
