Police **** Alleged Gang Member In Shootout
Police have shot two alleged gang members in Northeast L.A., ******* one, after a drive by shooting.
Plainclothes LAPD officers ****** one alleged gang member and wounded another during a gunfight Thursday following a pair of drive-by shootings in a Northeast Los Angeles neighborhood plagued by gang ********.
A third suspect in the shootings ran from police and was caught hours later by officers using a police dog. A fourth man got away in a white Nissan, police said.
The officers spotted the four alleged members of the Avenues street gang in the Nissan after they allegedly shot a man carrying a baby 15-times in a drive-by ******, and then sprayed another car with bullets.
"We had an individual holding a 2-year-old baby in his arms [in] the first shooting, he was shot multiple times," said LAPD chief Bill Bratton.
"A short time after that there was a car to car shooting, we believe also between two sets of gang members."
The victim of the first drive-by shooting is not a gang member, police said, and was listed in critical condition. The baby was not hurt.
