the truth about SIn City...

Funny how this all may seem, but has anyone ever been to Vegas? I was surprised the First time I went. Shortly after my visit, I saw the movie CASINO and was surprise that Scorsese nailed it right on the dot:
"...For guys like me,
Las Vegas washes away your sins.
It's like a morality car wash.
It does for us what Lourdes
does for humpbacks and cripples.
And along with making us legit...
comes cash, tons of it.
I mean, what do you think we're doing
out here in the middle of the desert?
It's all this money.
This is the end result
of all the bright lights...
and the comp trips,
of all the champagne...
and free hotel suites,
and all the broads and all the booze.
It's all been arranged
just for us to get your money..."
ANALYSIS: Organize crime at its best by robbing us of our wealth by providing lights and sound, something to think about maybe?

Only ignorant or naive people go to Las Vegas for gambling - imo.

I go for everything BUT gambling.

Though it has been awhile.

Yep, me too...But did you know Vegas is one the Few cities that is actually run my mobsters? It is the only place where they can convert their dirty money into kilos of influence...

I am not sure if that is still the case.

I am not expert, but my understanding was that the big casinos are run by corporations.
Though, no doubt organized crime has a huge hand in much of what goes on in Las Vegas.

You think that movie had any truth behind it? (CASINO)

Oh yes. But it took place in the 70's did it not? But I am no expert.

Maybe you might like to do a Google search for the real whatever his name was that Robert DeNiro was portraying.
I forget the name, but he has a website and he answers many questions about the movie and gambling. Very interesting stuff.

As much as I despise that side of myself. I LOVE the whole Las Vegas concept.

thanks for that...Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal is the character that he played!!!

I have been to Sin City about 7 times, and I love it, I'm not a big gambler, but i do gamble a little, i like to play Craps & Blackjack. I love the food, the buffets, the entertainment.

best odds game: CRAPS OR B/J?

Craps is more random than B/J, but i usually win at both, but B/J more than craps, as there is some, although not much, strategy involved. So I'd have to say B/J has the better odds. When i play B/J, i play singe or double deck, if you play with a 5 or 6 deck boot, your odds of winning drop dramatically

Of the main casino games craps has the best odds for the player.
Second roulette then BJ.
Growing up near AC, Ive never known anyone who won consistantly at neither of these games.
I do know a few who have done well at Texas holdem and Omaha.

There is no way to win at casinos on a consistent basis unless you cheat or count cards at blackjack.

There simply is no other way to win consistently.

Unless you are brilliant. And I do not mean really, really smart. I mean one out of ten million brilliant.

Its true...Counting is the only way to get more out of the system..hence not beat it! House will always dominate and have advantage, its just the way it is...

Agreed.

That is why I typed only ignorant or naive people go to Lss Vegas for gambling.

Of course, some go for other things and just gamble a bit for fun. That's different.

I'd like to go sometime.
Anybody with me on this?
Maybe we can rent a big "Freeones" bus or something....

like mcrocket said, thats the 70's.

Vegas is my favorite city and I go for the sites and the free alcohol and cheap food. I also will spend a lil time at the five dollar black jack tables. The most fun is sitting in the Keno lounge getting free alcohol
