I don't think trump is fucked, I think he'll be protected by the senate. A good chunk of them have already stated publicly that they'll vote to acquit, no matter what charges and evidence are presented. You can't compare this to Nixon or Clinton because even that recently republicans were still trying to maintain the image that they worked for the USA. They're not doing that anymore.

So you're going to end up with a situation where everyone knows that the president has broken the law, and everyone knows that if it had been Obama or a democratic president there would have been a lynch mob camped outside the white house for the last 6 months, but senate republicans are basically going to sit on their hands and say yep, we know he broke the law, but he's our guy, so we're not going to do anything about it, and there's nothing you can do about it either.

That's why this situation is so fucked up, that's why republicans are such a threat to the US and its democracy, and the answer to the question of "well, what the fuck happens now?" is going to be the really interesting part that I've been waiting for.
