The Official Gardening Thread

Yes it's a tipi (tee pee is what you get when you ***** too much tea - :D)

Yup, it was several hrs past my bedtime... something had to go awry! :D

BTW, Interesting yellow-orange colored tomatos there, mista, the ''early girl tomatoes I grow seem to go from green to red with no yellow-orange in between.

Well, it's time for me to get the ol ladder out and get ready to trim the Potocarpus, the Texas Privet, the sticky gooey Star Jasmine (I **** cutting that thing... it gums up my cutting edges), and maybe the Japanese Maple if I feel so inclined.

We froze last night so time to pull everything and prep for winter.

The large yellow tomatoes are called Lemon Boy and the yellow cherry tomatoes are called Yellow Pear. Both are excellent. - I make a yellow tomato sauce for my shrimp pasta that is awesome and no one can figure out what's in it- LOL

I have three tomato plants. I try to plant things that will make it through the summers here and that is hard. This winter (if it ever comes) I will be planting watermelon, cucumbers and a peach tree.

If I was in Arizona I'd be planting hot peppers of all varieties. :D

I've been trying to plan for next year's garden too. Thinking about breaking it up into more smaller gardens instead of the one (still kind of small) garden.

One thing I really need to do before the month ends is figure out what to do to "winterize" my pear and apple trees. Time to do some research! :)

**** is going to freeze tonight for the first time since several months. Have to get some of those lovely tomaters that are still haning' off the vine.
Whatever I plant next year - it's not going to require as much water.

The July/August water bill damn near ****** me.

You're having sex to pay your bills. :nono:

Such adoarable cats, love them.

I think I am going to do that. My friends love peppers.

I can get a hold of jalepino pepper seeds here, but the NL just doesn't have the climate for it unless you have a green house. ;-\ Hell, the green and yellow sweet peppers were a bust last year.

Dont forget that you're living in a country that cant handle any kind of spicy food.

^Drip/soaker hose is what you gotta use 'round these here parts...highest water bill was $60 this summer.

That damn hailstorm we got in mid-July worked over my garden.
Some of the stuff made a bit of a comeback, so fortunately got a few veggies out of it.

I have started some broccoli indoors. :D Of course it'll be a couple weeks before I see anything and a few more until I plant it outside, but I'm still excited! This is my first time growing broccoli. Any advice/tips?

Who else has started their garden prep? I talked with squally a bit - I know he's starting too.
You should show everyone your SCARECROW! ;)

Funny? Why? :)

I need to go back through here and find all the info on keeping rabbits out of the garden.
