The Official 2010 E3 Thread

Re: E3 2010 Thread!

I heard that the Kinect demo was a total bomb for Microsoft.Don't really know why they would show a terribly rushed peripheral when they knew that it wasn't ready. This has potential to be a problem for Microsoft if they don't get their shit together.

I don't know where you heard that because I watched it and didn't see any problems to say it was rushed. The only problems I saw were the lack luster games and applications for Kinect.

:(

Blast my enthusiasm leading me blindly in starting new threads...

I'm just teasing, bud. :)

I'm rolling with your thread Shayd cause Whimsy was picking on me last week....anyways, I'm reading that the M$ xbox conference was SuperLame-O. Shit for game announcements outside of the Kinect games, mostly demos of multiplatform games, Call of duty maps coming to xbox first then ps3 for the next 3 years(so the fuck what?!)......

The new xbox console looks cool but no price cut and its not like its new hardware. So if you got an xbox already its totally irrelevant to you just like the slim ps3. At least when they did the slim ps3 they cut the price along with it...

Sounds lame-O to me, wheres the fucking games???? All this totally reinforces my decision to drop xbox and invest my $$$ in ps3 until the next round of consoles.

Microsoft certainly to this point has focused on hardware, I'm intrigued to see if they even bother with announcing any games or if they'll just let the publishers do it. I agree with you too in terms of the slim Xbox too, I'm rather perplexed that Microsoft didn't at least come down in price on the slim. I thought that if they debuted a slim 360, they'd probably do away with the XBLA system, but instead it seems they're trying to bifurcate the lineup into a "lite" and "hardcore" division. I'd be surprised however if the slim 360 didn't feature some new hardware inside though.

I think it might be longer than that. I think they are just gonna keep adding new features. (IE Xbox & PS3 doing the whole motion stuff like Wii already has)
:dunno:

Both Sony and Microsoft have investments into the current generation of consoles until at least 2012. I could realistically see a new system coming out around 2013.

I just watched a special coverage by Gametrailers on the Microsoft conference on Spike TV without commercial interruptions...and it was great. The Kinect looks impressive as well as the new Xbox 360 slim. However, they did not mention if the dreaded red-ring of death has been fixed with the new slim console. Probably will holdout and watch out for its reviews.

SF8 :2 cents:

Microsoft will probably never discuss the failure rate at such a high profile event. But, I will say the new 360 slim looks to have much smarter heat vents, so we'll see.

The tech demo was rather successful, the lineup of games was fairly disappointing. The technology was more than functional.

If you look at the guy holding his arms up in t he first link,it looks a little laggy to me.

My main point though,is that it is rushed because all they did was copy what was already done years ago with the Wii,as far as games go.

I'm not in anyway saying Kinect is a good thing. What I am saying is that what you and your links are describing can be called a "copy & paste" job or even "smoke & mirrors". "Rush" job however certainly isn't one of them.

Also you're basing your opinion on a picture. Not a presentation on TV like I saw, but a picture.

Agree on all your statements here Shayd, 100%. And failure rates would never be talked about at any event by any of the companies. What would happen if they said the RROD's in the slims won't be a problem, but then when the system hits there's insane hardware failures?

As far as lack of games by xbox, it seems that they're abandoning the core gamers and pushing Kinect in everyones face too much. With playstation move,Sony is giving gamers the options they want and should have....

The RROD is one of the things that came to mind when I watched them reveal the new 360. However I believe Microsoft has learned their lesson. As always when a new system shows its face I always wait anyways to make sure I'm not investing in something that I will later kick myself in the ass for getting on a kick ass impulse buy. I am excited for the built in Wi-Fi though. :D

As for the Kinetic I was watching it on SpikeTV yesterday and was so bored. I cringed when I watched the Star Wars demo for it and felt it was just childish looking now. They should have waited on revealing it on a later date when they have something that gamers can get into.

I kept waiting to see games and all I kept seeing was this Kinetic peripheral. Basically Microsoft's attempt at Wii peripherals and all that. See how it goes.

I gotta say I was pretty impressed with Nintendo's press conference. Scratch that, very impressed. It looks like they are finally focusing on hardcore Nintendo gamers and introduced the Nintendo 3DS to boot.

Other than the minor Wi-Fi hiccup when showing the new Zelda game (which according to Miyamoto was because of cell phone's in the room, maybe) Nintendo did a great job.

Now I admit that I didn't see the whole conference, I mean a man's gotta shower right? I left during the Mickey Mouse game and came back just in time to see Kid Icarus. Kid Fucking Icarus!!!!!!!!!!

I did see some of the games that Iwata announced for 3DS. Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid and many more hardcore games. Not only that but the 3DS (according to them) will be in 3D without glasses. Without glasses!!!!!!!!!!!

This actually almost makes me want to buy a Wii and a 3DS. Almost!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah I almost forgot. GoldenEye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nintendo did not dissapoint today. Between Snake Eater on the 3DS and GoldenEye, I cried and came.

I've been watching as much footage as I can, even though I've had to work on days when the footage was airing.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to catch the XBOX 360 footage and EA footage. I'm stoked for Call of Duty: Black Ops, Medal of Honor, and Gears of War 3. I will be getting Dead Space 2 as well, but I started playing the first one two months ago and stopped once Red Dead Redemption came out, so I still have yet to beat that.

Mortal Kombat in 3D, anyone?

Twisted Metal. Ohmagawd.

Sony has a pretty good press conference too. The games just keep coming and Playstation Move looks pretty sharp. Good move on showing and announcing games that people want to play with Move. Great seeing the character of Kevin Butler too.

Oh my god, they just announced Twisted Metal!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, Killzone 3 I definitely want but I'm not excited about the 3D for it. I mean you do have to buy a 3D TV and glasses so forget that. I'll just play it in 2D.

I have to say Sony and Nintendo were great. Microsoft started off okay and then bombed.

I want Twisted Metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinect=:sleep:

It's tough to tell the lag factor from a photo, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that the technology was solid. Both of those articles essentially say the concept for Kinect is awful etc...but both attack the lineup of games over the performance of the system. I think it's going to be another three months before they start showing the full lineup.

You're right, they're pushing almost everyone to hardware, which is absolutely perplexing. They're ahead in sales, and now they're pushing to buy an expensive slim system, I honestly don't really see what this strategy is about. Sony and Nintendo are absolutely slaughtering them in terms of buzz and announcements.

The RROD is one of the things that came to mind when I watched them reveal the new 360. However I believe Microsoft has learned their lesson. Yeah, I sort of had the same reaction to the games they played. I think it's sort of an old PS3 situation right now in regard to the Kinect, that is to say developers aren't really sure how to build games to best take advantage of the hardware. I'm hoping Microsoft doesn't skimp on the built in WiFi either, as the wireless peripheral for the current 360 is an absolute joke. But like I said before, I'll be surprised if they don't at least update the hardware significantly in the slim.

I got my twisted Metal ps3 wish and it looks awesome. What game out there is car combat like that online multiplayer? None!!!! Can't wait.

Honest question for you all and if this starts a flame war then its the repliers fault not mine. I ask this question in an adult like manner trying to make honest conversation.......

At this point in time in their life cycles and after Xbox and Ps3 conferences with all the sweet announcements, if you could only have 1 console what would it be? Is there really a solid reason to have an xbox 360 over a ps3 right now? I can't think of one.....

I've been a PS gamer since I got my first Playstation, and I see no reason why I should become a XBOX gamer, when I've been a PS gamer most of my life, do you?
