is one of the few people I can go to with this trek-related question: Why do starships require crews of hundreds? Why not have the computer do the majority of the work?

Arti...you still need folks to monitor systems, check the regulators etc.

Besides starships are like cities in space! Something goes wrong need somebody there to check the problem etc.

Really do you want Star Trek to just be computerized ships? Where's adventure in that?
